Weirdest thing happened today! I was just looking out my window when out of NOWHERE this kid just APPEARED in my garden. NO JOKE. One second he wasn't there, the next, bam, there he was! SERIOUSLY, THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED.
So I was just staring at him and he looked up and stared back at me, so what the hell was I supposed to do? I went out to talk to him, obviously!
He had no idea where he was or how he got there, he said he'd just been minding his own business and then suddenly he was here!
Thing is, he'd been there for maybe five minutes, not even, when there was a knock on my door and there's this guy in a suit. A SUIT. A BLACK SUIT. YOU SEE WHAT I'M IMPLYING HERE PEOPLE?
So this suited guy turns up, says he's looking for his 'friend', I wasn't sure but I showed the guy through anyway, he went and spoke to the kid and then they both left.
HOW STRANGE IS THAT? It was like something out of the x-files. SO BIZARRE.
SO what do you all think? Secret government experiments? Aliens? What's going on!?

Welcome to reality.
You don't know how or why it happened, but somehow you're not in Oz anymore. You were just getting on with your life when, in the blink of an eye, everything changed, you Shifted.
You might have appeared in a field, in somebody's house, in a shopping centre, but wherever you suddenly found yourself, you weren't there for long. Friendly faces in black suits are on the scene within ten minutes, people who seem to know what's going on, asking you questions about where you came from and promising that they're going to help you get back. For now, there's a place you can stay, where everything will be explained to you.
Do you trust them? You don't have much choice, if you try to resist they'll make it quite clear that this isn't an offer, it's an order.

The girl is confused, disoriented, she doesn't understand what's happening to her, doesn't recognise the faces of the people hurrying past.
"Miss? Don't worry, we're here to help," the first person to approach her is a motherly woman in a neat black suit "Could you tell me your name?"
The girl looks up, eyes wide and suddenly horrified with a startling realising, something that should be at the front of her mind is nowhere to be found.
"...I don't know."
The Shift affects people differently, in almost everybody it's an exhausting process, somehow limiting supernatural and metahuman abilities, but some people have it worse. Noone quite knows why it happens, but when some Shifted arrive, they're missing memories. Sometimes it's as simple as forgetting what they were doing when the Shift took them, other times it's everything about who they are.

The gated community of Tenebrae Estates really does have everything you might want - unless what you want is to leave it. Once you get here, every effort is made to keep you here. The staff will remain polite and pleasant at first, but they won't hesitate to use force if necessary.
