The long halls seemed surprisingly empty as Zuko strolled down in search of his room, the number of which was written in a crumpled piece of paper that he carelessly tossed over his shoulder. Dorm number one; it wasn’t hard to remember.
He muttered under his breath as he adjusted the travel bag that was on his shoulders. It was lightened from several days’ worth of scarce provisions. In fact, the only weight to it seemed to be his Dual Dao swords strapped on to the back of it. He probably should be thankful that the suits hadn’t confiscated them from him, but right now he was just frustrated at being placed in a strange environment and having somehow lost his ability to firebend. What was going on here?! He had never lost his firebending before! In fact, he hadn’t even known that that was possible. Was this entire town cursed, or was it just some trick played on him by those strange men dressed in black? He would get to the bottom of this eventually. The banished prince hadn’t come all this way just to get his firbending ability stolen from him!
The boy halted at the door marked with the number one. So, this is what they assigned him. It had better be worth it for all the trouble he had already gone through. Zuko fished the key out of his bag and unlocked the door. It swung open with a slow creaking sound at first, but then he kicked it the rest of the way open and caused it to slam unnecessarily hard against the wall. Well, when you couldn’t firebend to express your anger or punch someone, slamming things just seemed like the next best option.
