The Outside and the In
Face Claim/PB
*Face Claim: Kevin Zeger*
*Actual Drawn Form*
Appearance: Casshern was designed to be humanoid, and retains many human characteristics, such as hair, body structure, his face, hands, etc. Most people probably wouldn't think he was a robot at first glance, but his eyes are an unnaturally bright blue color. At least, normally they are - but during long periods of inactivity when he's not in combat or tight situations, they can mellow out into a darker brown-grey color.
Although Casshern looks human in design, some may notice how oddly skinny he seems to be, a trait the robots of similar make share. He has long legs and well-defined shoulders, accentuated with messy brown hair that is covered when his hood is activated. Even though he has a skinny build, it is because he often travels at incredibly fast speeds, and has no problem retaining his durability even with a small form.
It's unknown as to whether or not the suit he wears is a suit or an actual synthetic-skin (although it's most likely the latter), but it is completely white in color with the exception of the large red 'C' on his chest and the dual black stripes running down its sides. His neck is completely black, and almost hidden by his large, upturned collar. On either side of his hips are jet boosters that allow him to move at supersonic speeds, which are designed similarly to his helmet's earpieces. His helmet is decorated with a golden crest (which is no longer symmetrical, due to a spar with Dio) and a blank mouthpiece that he can call upon whenever he needs it, mostly during battle.
It's interesting to note that Casshern can bleed, being an organic robot, but also seems to be able to repair himself at very fast speeds, often even from fatal injuries. This aides him allowing him to be immortal, and poses that question that if he can be killed at all.
Personality: Casshern was, originally, a cold, moral-less killer. He was feared by all robots, represented death, and was often considered a bad omen. However, since his rebirth, he became more of a melancholy, depressing character. He had a negative outlook on the world and on himself, and often observed everything around him. This curiosity began to allow him to grow hope and happiness, seeing that robots didn't have to be scared or sad just because they would die. He came to accept that life runs in circles, and although he wasn't affected, he didn't consider himself to be above anyone else. Still, he did not hesitate to kill when he had to, often destroying robots who would come to him believing that devouring him would help stop the ruin.
He became somewhat of a hero, often saving people from other robots - but he didn't think twice when it came to eradicating an entire clan of robots who believed in the rumor. He was prone to having flashes of former self, activating a sort of kill-switch that would allow him to destroy everything around him without any thought on his actions. This plagued him, obviously reminiscent of his past, which he knew nothing about. Although, still, he believed that he had to atone for the sins he'd committed in both his past and present life, often putting his life on the line if he had to. Although he eventually used the inspiration of others to stop the ruin, his inner programming does stops him from actually committing suicide and allows him to continue killing.
By now, he realizes what he truly is - Casshern is death. But he is not a cruel death. He understands that things must die to truly be alive, and knows that his place in the world is allowing others to live. This reveals his dramatic transformation and his true selflessness, as he protects and strengthens the life of others around him if at all possible.

Right Up to that Key Moment
History:
Long ago, there was a human society that covered the earth. They were wide-spread and technologically advanced, even creating robots and integrating them into society. But there was a special robot created by a mechanic named Ohji, one of many, who rose above them all. Casshern was a failed experiment, created in an attempt to procreate robotic life, but he was not completely useless. Braiking Boss, Ohji's superior, used him and his twins Dio and Leda as perfect killing machines, but it was decided that Casshern would be the strongest. Eventually, it was decided that Casshern would be sent off to kill Braiking Boss's biggest enemy, Luna. Her death and blood of life mixed with Casshern's blood of death and sent the world into a chaotic, downward spiral. Casshern lost his memory, and the Ruin began.
A disease among robots that rapidly rusted the body until it crumbled into dust; that is the Ruin. It plagued the land and turned much of the world into a barren wasteland where humans were scarce and robots fought to survive against bandits searching for undamaged parts. But parts are limited, and the Ruin is creeping up on everyone. Everyone except Casshern. He wandered the land with his perfect robotic body in search of some way to prove his existence, but found nothing but conflict and death around him. Robots would go mad over his body, forcing him to strike them down with incredible ease. On his journey, he met quite a few hopeful characters, including a human who decided not to run away from his fate, a robot girl who felt most passionate in combat, and two star-crossed robot lovers who would await the Ruin together. He also made a good friend, a robotic dog named Friender, who followed him to the end of his journey.
However, he also encounters a robotic woman named Lyuze who, at first, hates him due to the fact that he killed her sister during Luna's assassination, comes to love him by the time his journey is over. Another important member of his friends list is a little girl robot named Ringo, who he constantly encounters on his travels. Eventually, he runs into a robot named Dio - the same robot who was created similarly to himself. Dio planned to overthrow Braiking Boss and accrue his own robot army, fed by the lies Leda spoke to him, and had a deathly cold grudge on Casshern. They normally engaged in very heated battles when they met, with Casshern being the victor in the end and leaving him to rot in the wastelands. Casshern then discovers "Luna", who is granting salvation to robots, and saves her from Dio. The Ruin is stopped, but not before all of Casshern's friends (with the exception of Friender) die. Before going to wander the world again, he reminds Luna that she is life and he is death, and that no one can forget death if they ever wish to live.
Key Moment: Shifted from wandering in the post-series world which is no longer very desolate.

Perhaps a drifter would be a good word to describe Casshern. He'd seen it all in his travels. He'd seen robots help other robots, attack other robots, plant flowers, and wave hello. He'd seen the land change and rise from it's dead, decaying coffin and bloom with the life of a new world. A soft breeze rolled over his cheek as he turned, staring off at the new range of mountains before him. Mountains. His face remained unchanged, but inside he could feel the happiness welling up. The humans used to climb mountains, for fun, no less. They liked the excitement, as Casshern had heard, and even raced to the top. Humans were such fascinating creatures, and Casshern wanted to know more about them. And so, he made for the large land structures, towering over the rest of the rolling green plains and scattered towers of rock. Friender followed close by, loyal and truthful, as they headed over.
He could, most likely, just jump the mountain. Rise up, and hop his way along the side until he reached the top. But that wasn't going to give him the thrill that the humans felt. He needed to climb it himself, with nothing but his hands, or he wasn't going to do it at all. He watched as Friender leaped above him, easily ascending to a small plateau on the side of the mountain's steep, sudden wall. Casshern closed his eyes and reached out with his hand, gripping the first rocky patch of the mountain.
The last thing he heard was a sudden bark from Friender before his hand slipped. Startled, he opened his eyes to find that he was in a new, different grassy plain. It wasn't like before - there was no mountain here. Bewildered, Casshern looked to his left and to his right.
"Friender? Friender, where are you?"
But there was no reply. At least, not from Friender.
Hearing the voice of a new, unknown person kicked Casshern into gear, hopping back and turning around, his helmet climbing up and surrounding his head. He was ready for a fight he was sure would come, but none came. It was just him. . . and a man in a suit. The man was taller than he, but so was nearly everything back in his world. Not that he was still in his world.
"Who are you?"
"I am unimportant. I would, however, like to know who you are."
Casshern was wary of this stranger. His suit was too clean, and his stance was too lax. He stood with his arms behind his back and his legs even spread out - he was calm, but he was also ready if Casshern wanted to fight. And even though he was against he, he felt that he had to.
"Answer me!"
His thrusters kicked in, leaping at the man in a violent acrobatic twirl - but with a precise and swift motion Casshern was knocked down. The man thrust palm into his gut and knocked him back, causing him to roll into a crouched position on the grass. That hurt a hell of a lot more than it should have, and he felt much slower to boot. This man was obviously not a robot, so why could he hit him?
"Do not resist, there is nothing to fight for any more."
"What did you do?!"
He sprang back onto his feet, sprinting with all of his might at the man. But even with his boosters he felt clumsy. A missed punch was met with a clothes line that knocked Casshern onto his back, forcing him to wince.
"Welcome to your new home, shifted. Housing will be provided for you shortly. Enjoy your stay. If you have any questions, do ask any of the Staff."
Casshern did not justify him with a response, he twirled and tried to knock the man off of his feet - but he was not fast enough and before he knew it, a large hand grabbed him by the neck and threw him to the ground again. It took him a few moments to recover, stumbling slightly, but still ready to fight. However, the man was gone - not a trace was left of him. Casshern straightened himself and deactivated his helmet.
Where was he now?
There was only one thing to do now - he needed to explore.
