He had finally found some time to be alone. The dorm assigned to him provided such comfort, but knowing that there were still humans and other oddities around him just rubbed him the wrong way. He needed to get away from everything, and an hour of running around the estates gave him the perfect opportunity to be alone: the forest. Trees surrounded him on every side, blocking out the houses that were just beyond the treeline.
He had multiple subjects to think about. There was the sudden leap in technological advances, especially the vehicles, remotes, phones, and televisions. There was the constant nagging voice in the back of his head saying that he was missing something important, but he couldn't remember what it was. There was the fact that all seemed peaceful, and then there was the fact that he didn't know anyone he had met so far. He didn't know who anyone was, and he didn't know who he could trust.
The blond child slowly stopped his running and weaving through the trees, one hand extended to his side. Bare skin scraped against the cool, dark bark of a tree's trunk. Head down and mouth open, he took in deep gulps of air, his chest heaving up and down with every breath he took. He shouldn't get this tired after such a short run, but he did. Was this dimension draining him of his energy? Or was it the lingering effects of how his empire was before he was transported to this foreign place? His breathing grew ragged, hitching before he started coughing, the force of each cough shaking his entire body. He was almost brought to his knees, but he used the tree to support himself, leaning his shoulder up against it.
Concluding it was the state his empire was in, he waited until he calmed down, the coughing slowly ceasing after a few long moments. Gulping, he took in another deep breath before straightening up, pushing himself off of the tree trunk. Icy blue eyes gazed around the path he was on, checking to make sure no one was around to see him in such a state. His hand instinctively rested on the hilt of his sword which was concealed under his tattered cape. Despite the new clothing the people who brought him here had given him, he had chosen to go on his outing in his uniform. It had been washed, removing the blood, dirt, and grass stains, but he hadn't been able to mend any of the slices and holes. Not only did he not have the supplies to do so, but you can't trust a boy to do a girl's job.
With one last shaky breath, the blond shook his head, bangs falling in front of his eyes. Now, where was the war that he had left behind? He should have brought the history textbook he had been given by the library woman...
