Appearance:
Never the most feminine of ponies, Rainbow Dash has a slightly unkempt appearance, almost as though she rolled out of bed, shook out her rainbow-colored mane, er, hair, and flew all the way to work. She’s not big on dressing up, but now that she’s supposed to be wearing clothes every day, her general opinion is that they should be cooler than everyone else’s. About 20% cooler, actually. And her opinion, bright colors are good, as are vests and cool hats. Her style sense still has a ways to go before it can be considered to fit into any one type, but that hasn’t kept her from still trying and walking out of the house proud every day. She walks tall, almost as though she was actually trying to get off the ground, and she likes to wear tall shoes to get higher than her usual 5’8”. She’s thin and muscled, and she has a very expressive face.
Personality:
Though Rainbow Dash symbolizes the spirit of loyalty and is always true to her friends, some of her other traits often are more apparent. Rainbow Dash is both brash and competitive, and she can often seem lazy. She is very confident in her own flying and athletic abilities and is willing to take on just about any challenge. She tends to procrastinate, since she knows she can get her usual weather-minding duties done very quickly and use the rest of the time to sleep in and maybe take an extra nap. While she loves to compete, she hates to lose, since she hates looking bad in front of other people. She’s not afraid, though, of speaking her mind, especially to her friends. If the truth hurts, well, somebody’s still gotta say it.
In her spare time and when she’s not sneaking in a pony-nap, Rainbow Dash likes to read or play pranks on people. She especially likes the Daring Do book series, and she’s thinking about writing her own book. While she does enjoy pranks, she doesn’t like pranks that hurt people or pulling them on people who might get upset. She cares a lot about her friends’ feelings, and while she might sometimes say or do things that are mean, she doesn’t mean to hurt them, and she’s willing to defend them against anyone who does. She won’t abandon her friends, and she is willing to give up on her own dreams if they get in the way of helping others. Though she has unfavorable traits, Rainbow Dash knows what is most important, and she’s willing to stand up for it no matter what.

Right Up to that Key Moment
History:
Rainbow Dash grew up in Cloudsdale and went to school with her friend Fluttershy. It was while she was having a race-off to defend her friend that Rainbow Dash discovered her love for flying and competing. She gained her Cutie Mark and began to dream about one day joining the WonderBolts. Later, Rainbow Dash moved to Ponyville, where she was still friends with Fluttershy and also made new friends. Her job was to control the weather in Ponyville by helping to move in or remove rain clouds depending on what the schedule called for. Her first big adventure was on the day she and her other friends met Twilight Sparkle and they all battled Nightmare Moon with the Elements of Harmony. Rainbow Dash’s decision to stick with her friends instead of chasing her dreams showed that she represented the spirit of loyalty.
Rainbow Dash spent the next couple years hanging out with all of her friends. They learned various lessons and had to use the Elements of Harmony again to defeat some of the other villains, who all seemed to have escaped from their thousand-year-long prison sentences at the same time. She also got a pet turtle, Tank, and gained a mentoree in the form of Scootaloo, a young pegasus pony. With her friends in Ponyville and a shot at one day joining the WonderBolts, there’s little worry in Rainbow Dash’s life these days.
Key Moment:
One spectacularly uninteresting morning, Rainbow Dash woke up late and went searching for her friend Twilight so she could borrow the next Daring Do book. On her way to the library, she shifted.

A Roleplaying Shift
RP Sample:
“AAAAHHH!” Rainbow Dash screamed as she fell the ten feet to the ground, landing in a swimming pool with a large splash. She paddled around in the water for a while as she tried to get her bearings. Then, suddenly, some strange-looking creatures came out of a house, walking on their hind paws like a dragon. Seeing them, Rainbow Dash back-hoofed it in the water and began shouting again. “AAAAHHH!”
“Mommy,” said one of the shorter creatures, “there’s a lady in the pool.”
“I see that, Jimmy. Now run inside and tell your father.”
“Who are you?” Rainbow Dash shouted, making her way to the edge of the pool to haul herself out onto the edge. “What is this place? What kind of creature are you?” She pulled herself onto the dry land and tried to fly-dry off, but her wings weren’t working. She checked over her shoulder and shouted again. “AAAHH! Where are my wings? What happened to me? What the—I…where are my hooves? And my tail, and…” She looked up, horrified, at the being in front of her. “I’m…I’m one of you!”
At that moment another one of the creatures walked out of the house. This one had shorter hair and spoke in a darker voice, so Rainbow Dash assumed it was a guy. “I understand you’re feeling a bit confused right now,” he said calmly, “but if you come with me, I can help you. Tell me, what is your name?”
“Rainbow Dash. The bestest, most fastest flier in all of Equestria. Except someone took my wings! If this is Discord again, or one of Twilight’s spells, I’m going to be so mad…!”
“Please, come with me and I will help you to get everything figured out.”
She looked suspiciously at him. “Why should I go with you? For all I know, you’re the one who did this to me.”
“I can assure you that everything will be better if you come with me.”
“Okay…” She walked over to him on all fours, as she normally would, but since everyone else was standing on two legs she decided to try that as well and found it easier than she had originally thought. “I’ll go with you, but don’t try anything funny, or my friends will be after you.” Taking another look at her bare back, she asked, “Do you think there’s any chance you can help me get my wings back?”
