The Outside and the In
Face Claim/PB:
Lin Miaoke
Appearance:
Mew is rather cuddly in appearance, even as a human. It is short, it always has been, and this is no different in human form, where it stands only at 3'11" and weighs only 45 lbs. Mew also appears quite feminine in structure, causing most to refer to her with feminine forms of pronouns and words, even if Mew refers to itself using neuter forms of the words (such as it as opposed to she). However, close examination would show that the skeletal build of Mew doesn't quite match either a male or a female. In addition, if someone were to look in private areas, Mew has neither biological indicator. Most would pin it as female at first glance, however. Mew's eyes are dark, nearly black. They are almost brown, but they have dark blue stress in them, almost as though its eyes had once been blue and the human genes had overridden them. It has wavy black hair that is normally tied back into ponytails and a soft, childish face. Mew projects an air of mystery despite this. It moves with grace, a happy smile normally placed on it, though it's expressions become muted when upset making them hard to read. Its movements and expressions suggest something deeper than the apparent child, even while Mew is skipping.
Personality:
"Mew, the New Species Pokemon.
So rare that it is still said to be a mirage by many experts. Only a few people have seen it worldwide. Apparently, it appears only to those people who are pure of heart and have a strong desire to see it. It is capable of making itself invisible at will, so it entirely avoids notice even if it approaches people. Because it can use all kinds of moves, many scientists believe Mew to be the ancestor of all Pokémon...”
Until you meet it, and when just looking from a distance, Mew has an aura of mystery. A powerful psychic, and still minorly empathetic after the Shift, Mew seems to be a mirage to most, even in this new human form. It rarely shows itself to humans, and continues to rarely show itself, only trusting in those it can sense are pure of heart. Therefore, both at Tenebrae and at home, most people just don’t know it. Now it’s more obvious, but despite being childlike, most people don’t feel like Mew’s a child.
Most people would call Mew hyperactive at the best of times. Perpetually curious, it only takes a few shiny toys to distract it. It talks incessantly to whoever can understand it, which, in the past, were only Pokemon, and few of those indeed. Mew also desires to know what's around it, and tends to do that by absentmindedly winding up somewhere it doesn't really belong. As a result, despite being able to transform into any Pokemon it desired back in its home world and being able to become invisible, it gets caught for brief seconds. Once was long enough for them to find an eyelash. It's been a bit more cautious since then, but still, a bored Mew is a Mew that will go out and steak toys just to play with.
Behind the bubbly personality, there's the several-thousand-year-old legend, the ancestor of all Pokemon and the guardian of the Tree of Beginning. Despite being a hyperactive child most of the time, Mew is surprisingly smart upon occasion, able to pick up on other people's emotions much quicker than the child seems like it should be able to, though it rarely chooses to use this gift. It is also an extremely powerful warrior, despite its small size. When locked in battle, it takes someone's death to pull Mew out of it. However, it is also important to note that Mew rarely fights, preferring to talk things out if it can it all help it. Fighting with it, though, will give the provoking party nasty bruises and a nasty headache.
And then, move in further, and there's a lonely, lonely child, waiting for recognition by the Greater Legendaries, those that created the universe. It is generally recognized as powerful, as Mewtwo's cloned sibling (or perhaps mother), and as the ancestor to the rest of Pokemon-kind. However, being first is lonely, especially for someone with the heart of a hyperactive child. It would sit alone in the Tree of Beginning, playing with those inane golem guardians of Regice, Registeel, and Regirock, only to have them not move at all. It would cry out for a friend, but no friend would come for a long, long time, and so it would run away, and act up, because it wanted to be noticed some.
Finally, though, there's pure soul that can never really be tainted, not even after the wars its seen and the prices it must pay. It is so pure of heart, that those who are evil cannot stand it, and that is its true power. It is so pure of heart, it will save others before it considers that it's hurt. It is so pure of heart, that, in the end, it can't help but be a happy young child. In the end, it is troublesome, but not really in a way that's anything but innocent.

Right Up to that Key Moment
History:
lt's been a long time. It was there, after all, just moments after its universe was done being built, for there had to be something to inhabit it, and Mew was to be the ancestor to all of it. It’s been a long time, and the world has evolved, and there are now nearing eight-hundred species of its kind, all different. There was a time, though, when it was the only one. It was to give birth to a race, a genus, no, a new kingdom on the tree of life, reserved only for the ones descended from it. It was lonely, and Mew gave life to many children before its children began to multiply on their own, and it settled down near Mt. Moon. Those first 146 Pokemon would always be special to Mew. However, it was soon decided that this was not Mew's sole purpose. Mew was to guard the Tree of Beginning, which had sprouted where the first Bulbasaur had been hatched, a tree that represented balance. Three golems were raised, and Mew was to live its life in the rock formation, it's life now bound to the tree.
It was not long before it began to rebel, though not really. It wasn't going against its duty, only avoiding it for a time. Mew would wander all over Kanto before returning home, often months later. It wasn't like the stupid golems could scold it or anything. It soon began to learn what Kanto was, and why it was so important. A few times, it nearly got caught, but it never did. Instead, as it filched toys and explored, legends of a powerful Pokemon who's psychic energy would shield from capture began to spread and grow among the newer creation on Arceus's: Human. Mew watched as Human went from fearing all Pokemon, to discovering apricorns and capturing and partnering with them. It would always return home, though, not realizing his the Mirage Pokemon had started to implant itself in the outside world's minds.
In that time, a war had begun, a war near Mew's life-balance, the Tree of Beginning. The nearest town, a place called Rota with a palace called Cameran Castle, was about to be caught in the middle. Me was a bit scared, for it knew nothing of war, though as millennia passed it would grow all to familiar with the more common style of war int Kanto- gang and territory wars. This war, however, would destroy much. Before it could, however, a brave man known as Sir Aaron came to the Tree of Beginning to pray to the legend to save the town. Mew was shocked, however, when the man sacrificed himself to it. Mew stopped the war, but its mind was in a different place. When the time came, it would be that noble. It would want nothing else of itself.
Over time, more many years passed, and Mew found itself growing reckless again. As Pokemon Scientists entered the word many rebuked that Mew ever existed. By every report, Mew would only been seen for fleeting seconds before, in a blur of speed, a powerful energy, and a whirring noise, it would vanish into thin air. Mew found itself fascinated, however, by the pure of heart, for ever since it had seen Sir Aaron, it had learned to understand the feelings that let it understand the Human world. It was confusing, and once, Mew wished slightly for the lonely times when there were only a few others on the Earth. It was easy to understand them, then. In front of the pure of heart, Mew would sometimes let them touch it, petting its nose, even. The slightest noise or slightest bad feeling would send the Pokemon whirring away.
Kanto, meanwhile, dropped into shady deals in many places. A powerful, dominant family known as Team Rocket rose in the underworld. The police and League controlled them well enough, but their ambitious young leader wanted power, and around him, people became corrupted, unable to see that training was about bonds, not power. It ran further than ever before to get away from the feeling, running to Guana and perhaps sealing its fate. Team Rocket followed. Mew had not been caught yet, and didn't realize the danger. A grunt sees it for a fraction of a second, and then it is gone, but it is too late. Team Rocket took the eyelash, giving it to Dr. Fugi. Mew raced back to Kanto as Mewtwo destroyed New Island in grief and rage. It had begun.
That night was one of those nights. Mew had been playing, for, worried as it was, it didn't think Mewtwo would get as far as he did. Then, getting to New Island, it realized it was wrong. It tried to help out the others in holding back Mewtwo as Mewtwo fought, before finally playing it's hand and trying to ratIonalize with Mewtwo. It didn't work and they began to fight. Survival instinct and powerful fighting skills kicked in, and the two were locked in an evenly-matched, pointless battle. Mew felt regret, for it was aiming to kill, and in a way, Mewtwo was its brother. However, everything froze when Ash did something Mew never expected. He sacrificed himself to stop the war.
Sir Aaron.
And Mew began to become aware as a great sadness filled the room, and it was powerful, for the Ash boy was purer of heart than any other. His purity had caused every Pokemon, cloned or natural, to become pure as well. It was dimly aware of Mewtwo's she'll-shocked state, but Mew was filled with its own sadness. Then, suddenly, something that Sire Aaron did not get happened: Ash got a second chance. Those who had become powerful revived him, and Mew slowly vanished as Mewtwo made his own revelations, before leaving with Mewtwo. It needed to go home.
For a moment on Cinnabar, if one was looking (and only Ash was), you could see Mew in the clouds. Then, however, there was a bright flash of light and it was gone.
Key Moment: Directly after the events of the first movie (and therefore before the events during modern times detailed in the eighth), Mew was flying home to the Tree of Beginning, where it had not been in too long after the Mewtwo incident began that day in the jungle. Instead, however, powerful energy not unlike Palkia's surrounded it, though it wasn't Palkia's, 'cause Palkia's is so much... pinkier. Mew almost lashed it off, but the energy proved to be too powerful, and it vanished.

A Roleplaying Shift

As the weird dimensional-energy stuff faded from around it, Mew found that the sky was not still cloudy, and that instead of flying to the Tree of Beginning, it seemed to be standing in a playground. Mew knew what these were. It paused. It could go prank Palkia, or whoever did this, at least, later. For now, it wanted to play! It immediately moved to get on the swings when it discovered that it was unable to fly. For a moment, it was confused. Then, it looked down and blinked. Transform had never allowed her to Transform into a human, you see, only other Pokemon, so human hands were shocking. "Whoah! I'm human! How did that happen? That seems to mean I can't fly! I'm bigger, though! Look out, world!" It laughed, quickly moving to two legs and running to the swung. It may have never been a human before, but some Pokemon were quite similar. Also, Mew had grown used enough to changing shape that it only took seconds for the once pink and fluffy cat to adjust.
As it sat down, a strange man in a suit approached. Mew tilted its head. It had a feeling that the man was there... because of it? Maybe it knew where whoever was using the power like Palkia's was! Mew turned to him. "Hello! Where are we? I'm lost, so do you know where Kanto is? Or South Anerica? I can get home from South America, too!" It was perky, despite the situation, which was good. That was what you were supposed to do, 'cause it made sure that you didn't get all depressed about anything, the man looked at Mew.
"Isn't Kanto a region in Japan?" he murmured to himself. He shook his head before continuing. "As for where you are, I'm sorry, miss, but you seem to have become a Victim of Reality Displacement. You aren't in your own world." Judging by the look on the man's face, he hadn't expected Mew to simply nod like it had been expecting that and that dimensional travel as perfectly normal. He probably wasn't expecting that because he mostly worked with people who, unlike Mew, didn't know Palkia. Mew thought. Most dimensions that Mew knew of had some form of Mt. Coronet. It'd just ask for directions! That'd work!
"Oh, okay! I thought that energy felt like Palkia's! This place looks a lot like my world, really, 'cept I haven't seen many of my children and you don't seem to have any Pokeballs." The man looked as though he recognized the word 'Pokeballs'. Mew had no way to know that this was because Pokemon was quite popular in the world. Instead, it made a different assumption. "Oh! Did you just leave yours at home? That's too bad, I would have loved to see them! Anyway, do you know where Mt. Coronet is? Wait, no, you might not call it that here! Um... Where do Palkia and Dialga live here?"
"Miss," he responded, to which Mew was about to respond that it wasn't actually a girl, but just looked like one at the moment, "I am afraid that you have completely shifted universes. I do not own Pokemon, and Palkia and Dialga are not going to be here." Mew stared at him in shock for a moment. Shifted universes? Complete universes, and not simply dimensions? Those were two different things, after all. Shifting universes meant that Arceus might not even reign here. Mew's children wouldn't live here. Its eyes suddenly widened, and it immediately sought down one more thing: its connection to the Tree of Beginning. They would both die without each other! Luckily, the connection seemed to be intact, though it felt like almost all of its power was being directed towards holding the bond, rather than spread throughout Mew like it normally was. It seemed like it still had some minor level of psychic power, but it was mostly unconscious feelings. It would have to train up again if it didn't get back to the Tree of Beginning soon to restore its power levels.
"Is there a way...?" it finally asked, only to be greeted by a slow shake of the head. "Mister Suit Person, I need to get back! I have a duty! I need to watch my... brother... so that, if he ever renounces the wisdom he's learned, I can he'll bring him back to his senses! I have a very important place I'm supposed to be guardian of! I have duties! I have my children! Please! Please, let me go home, Mister! Please! I need to go home!" During her tirade, Mew's face had shifted to something unreadable. It was clearly upset, but its eyes fairly well glowed with hidden power. This wasn't to scare anyone, but a defense mechanism, so that people wouldn't attack it while it was weak. The man sighed and put an arm around it.
"We're trying out hardest, Miss. Now, can you tell me your name?" Mew paused.
"M- Mew," it responded, but then, in order to not really give away it's identity as the Phantom Pokemon and not entirely trusting the man, it added a last name: "Morimoto. Mew Morimoto."
"Good," nodded the man. "Now, we have a place for people in a similar predicament to you. It's called Tenebrae Estates. Can you come live there with us?" Mew paused. It had a Feeling. This Feeling told it not to trust Suit Dude. But... what choice did it have? It would learn other options later, but for now it had to get oriented. Besides, judging by the way the man was talking to it, the man still thought Mew was a young child.
"Okay." Still, it couldn't help but feel this: something was off.

Tell us a bit about yourself: I am a very musical person who is always singing or humming. I am a complete Pokemon nerd who's excited for Pokemon X and Y to come out this fall, and I have a tendency to torture my characters a lot. I also like ice cream. Who doesn't like ice cream?
