Face Claim/PB
Michael Cera
Appearance: Flik isn't the tallest guy you've ever come across, but that's hardly unexpected, considering he used to be an ant. Standing at around 5"6, Flik is decidedly shorter than the average male, lean and well built - all that time gathering food and building tunnels in the colony have left Flik in pretty good shape. Flik is surprisingly strong, which probably has something to do with carrying 10-50 times his own body weight all day for most of his life. Other than his strength, nothing of his previous bug's life has shifted into his new human being; he looks decidedly normal. Flik has mousey hair and brown eyes which always sparkle with the excitement of adventure. Flik's skin is pale, due to the time spent underground in the colony.
Flik is usually seen dressed in khakis, t-shirts and sensible shoes, a camera slung over his shoulder, rucksack on his back and the latest problematic invention sticking out a pocket. Fashion isn't high on Flik's list of priorities - he never had to worry about it before, and with all the new and exciting things to see and discover, he's not likely to worry about it now, either. As long as he has a cap to keep the sun off his head, Flik's happy and ready to explore.
Personality: Flik means well. He really does! His inventions, his wacky ideas - they are all intended to help. Is it his fault if things sometimes go a little wrong? Flik has always been a bit of an individualist - living in a colony of hundreds of ants who behave the same, think the same and do the same day in and day out, he never really fit in. He was always a bit different, and his ideas and inventions tended to get him into pretty regular trouble.
Flik's heart is in the right place, though, and all he wants to do is help. He wants to make people's lives easier, make people happy and he just wants to be accepted and loved for who he is, quirks and all. He is desperate to discover, to learn and to explore. Flik will throw himself into everything that comes his way, be it study, friendships, work or play. Flik believes in the good to be found in everyone, and will give people fourth, fifth and sixth chances to find it... not always to his benefit. However, if things do go wrong, Flik will stand up for what he believes in, and will do whatever it takes to protect those he loves, showing bravery that is often unexpected for his size.

Right Up to that Key Moment
History:
Flik grew up in his colony on Ant Hill, doing what ants do, from the moment he hatched. Initially a burrower, Flik's job was to help with the expansion of the tunnels as the colony grew. He was started as a digger, but his role was quickly changed when his invention for speeding up the digging brought down three tunnels on top of the other workers. Luckily, no one was hurt, but it was decided that Flik's talents probably lay somewhere else - the moving and depositing of the dirt, perhaps? Flik was assigned a wheelbarrow, and spent his days gathering the dirt, wheeling it out of the colony, and depositing it in a designated point. Simple enough... unless of course you are a budding inventor with an exciting idea for how to speed work up. After more destruction, mess, and a lot of extra work, word reached the Queen of the 'Flik problem', and it was on her suggestion that Flik was reassigned, becoming a gathering drone. Flik's job was to gather the food needed by the colony, ready to store and ration when the rains came and the whole colony withdrew into Ant Hill.
Things began well; Flik, suitably subdued, decided to leave off the inventions for a while and get on with the job he had been assigned to. It didn't last long, however. Flik was unable to keep his creative juices from overflowing, and it wasn't long before he had started to brainstorm and create new ways of improving the collection of seeds and fruit. Problem was, the food being gathered wasn't just for the colony, and any setbacks caused by Flik could have serious repercussions for the whole colony. Flik's colony had to gather enough food to not only feed themselves, but also to appease the local grasshopper thugs. Upsetting Hopper and his cronies could create serious problems for the colony, and so when the inevitable happened, and Flik's latest invention destroys the summer's entire collection, the ant council convince Flik to leave the colony in search of Warrior Bugs to come and help the colony defeat the grasshoppers and free the colony of their tyranny once and for all.
And so Flik leaves, heading for the big city, where he is sure he will find the warriors they need, and return the hero of the colony, loved and accepted at last.
Key Moment: Flik was shifted on his way to the big city. He never found those Warrior Bugs, but he remembers everything, and will watch the change of the seasons with worry and anxiety, his thoughts on whether his colony will be able to appease the grasshoppers without him there to save the day.

A Roleplaying Shift
RP Sample:
Flik rubbed his head, feeling a lump begin to form where he had knocked it. His eyes closed, he stayed on his knees, waiting for the pain to subside slightly before attempting to stand. He wasn't entirely sure what had happened - he knew he was clumsy but he was walking a straight, flat road - what on earth had he tripped over? Shaking his head, he pushed himself back onto his feet, opening his eyes and lowering his hand from his head.
Flik stared, his mouth falling open and his eyes widening. Wherever he was, it suddenly looked very different to the road he had been trekking only moments ago. He stared, looking around at the buildings surrounding him, the metal boxes on the road whizzing past him. They went fast... faster than birds! Flik backed up against a wall, moving himself as far away from the metal boxes as he could. They were a tad scary.
Suddenly, Flik became aware of the size of the buildings and boxes surrounding him. He'd seen buildings of course, and trees just like the ones lining the edge of the kerb... but there was something very different about them. They seemed a lot closer than they used to... a lot smaller...
Flik gasped. He looked down at the ground, and felt dizzy as he realised how far away it was - a LOT further than he was used to. He was big. He was really big. Sliding down the wall, Flik sat on the floor as a shadow loomed over him.
"Excuse me, Sir?" The shadow spoke, and Flik tried to reach out to them, to sense them with his... his missing antennae. Where was his antennae?! Reaching up to feel his head, Flik realised he also seemed to be two limbs short. This was scary. Flik was freaking out. Seriously, freaking out.
"aaaaaaAAAAAAAA!! What has happened to me?!" Flik cried out, looking up to the shadow, and seeing a kindly face come into focus.
"It's alright, don't panic..." The face spoke, crouching beside him and reaching out a hand. "We can explain everything, and it will all be alright." The face had a kind voice, and Flik felt himself reaching out, despite his panic. "Now, do you remember who you are?"
"Fliktheinventor," Flik garbled in one breath, taking the hand and feeling himself pulled to his feet. "I feel different, I... " he gulped as he looked down. "This is really high... I don't think I like it..." He swayed slightly, feeling a reassuring hand on his back.
"Don't worry. Come with us, we'll take care of you. Everything will be fine." Flik nodded, closing his eyes. If he couldn't see how high he was, he didn't want to be sick quite so badly. He allowed himself to be led away.
At least he was less likely to be squished now.
