Appearance: Laharl looks scrawny and rangy. He seems to be all arms and legs, and those don't appear to have much strength or durability to them. This did not change when he got his three-dimensional form, much to his dismay. Also adding to his dismay was the idea that people should actually wear more substantial clothing. Since he was the Prince (and later Overlord) of his homeland, he didn't need to concern himself with what other people thought of his appearance. He wore what he wanted. Though, really, that didn't change all that much: it's just that now he favors a style that's rather... ridiculous.
You see, Laharl discovered "bling", which he believes is the key to regaining his power and strength. As such, he had a tendency to... overdue it. It's not unusual for him to wear gaudy necklaces, hefty bracelets, belts, watches, whatever he can throw over his body. He sometimes goes to such extents that actually walking is something of a difficulty for him. Yet he grits his teeth and perceives, surging forward. Which sort of describes how he looks too, come to think of it.
His hair does have this odd tendency toward sticking out at strange angles. Like, really odd ones. It's likely some leftover from the antenna hair he used to have.
And he swaggers. A lot. He walks around like he's still the Overlord that he definitely no longer is.
Also, he's ticked that his hair isn't blue any more. He claims that Fate is lazy and didn't want to have to recolor two characters hair.
Personality: Laharl is egotistical, spoiled, selfish, egotistical, greedy, violent, loud, snarky, and egotistical. He really does believe that the world revolves around him, and that he should be the "main character" of any existing storylines. As such, he hates it when the conversation drifts away from him, even for a few moments, and he has a remarkable knack for redirecting the flow of conversation so that it involves him. Of course, you'll actually have to be listening to him for that to work. Though if you're trying to ignore him, he's likely to start yelling at you. A lot.
You see, Laharl was a prince and then grew into an Overlord. To make things worse, he was a demon prince who became the Overlord of a Netherworld. So he's convinced that he should be, well, demonic. Which in his case generally means kicking puppies, throwing pepper at people, and designing addictive video games. It's debatable whether or not he's actually evil so much as he is unloved. Though if you do attempt to show affection for him, he will likely outright reject you. There's also a very good chance that he will attack if you're too gushy about it. If, by some miracle, you earn his trust... he's still likely going to belittle and berate you. However, he will also prove infallibly loyal to you, siding with you even if you betray him first.
On a side note: he literally feels physical pain whenever he hears uplifting words. That means that people gushy about true love or singing happy songs will literally hurt him. he also becomes physically weak and loses strength whenever he's near busy, attractive women. And no, he doesn't flirt with them; he, uh, yells at them (which might be Laharl's version of flirting?)

Right Up to that Key Moment
History:
Laharl remembers everything... well, nearly everything. There was this bit when he was poisoned and was out for two years, but other than that, his memory is long. Very long.
Laharl's birth was something of a miracle. not so much because the Overlord of the Netherworld finally had a child, but because that child had been borne of both human and demon. Laharl's mother was a witch who had come to the Netherworld to study magic and demons. And it is this woman who showered love and affection on Laharl, wanting him to grow up to be a kind boy who loved and respected others. Strangely, Krichevskoy allowed this, even seeming to support it. Some demons had claimed that the human woman weakened the demon lord with the power of her love, but none of them would dare say that to the man's face.
However, illness struck a young Laharl. His mother, realizing that her child was about to die, sacrificed herself to save him. She died; he lived, a fact that Laharl resented for the rest of his days. He blames love and affection for the loss of his mother, and actively seeks to be a cruel, cold-hearted demon. (However, his mother's affection and lessons sank deep within the young man, which might explain a few things). As such, Laharl started a caustic relationship with his father and the various demons around him, becoming a brat of very high caliber. Worsening matters was his significant strength and power, which were most certainly of a class that befitted his blood.
Then he laid down for a nap and woke up two years later.
During that time, Laharl's father "died" (he choked on a black pretzel), leaving the Netherworld without an Overlord. The various vassals broke off from the castle and the Overlord as a result. Laharl, upon his awakening, declared himself to be ruler again, and sought to right things. With the help of his loyal vessel Etna, he seemed to be doing quite an excellent job. However, the angels of Celestia sent an assassin down: the angel in training, Flonne, to kill Krichevskoy. Yes, that's right: Laharl's dead father had an assassin sent after him; an assassin who loved flowers, Sentai, and love. She decided to hang around with Laharl and Etna, believing that she could spread love, joy, and kindness to the selfish boy.
And it seemed to have mostly worked. Laharl seemed to be on the right path: ruling with a mixture of kindness and terror that suited his status. He gained the loyalty of many through his actions, even garnishing the respect of far-off Overlords. however, through a convoluted plot, the Human World learned of the Netherworld. They sent their greatest here: Gordan, to kill Laharl. It was during this impressive battle, right in the middle of an impressive move, that...

"Ha!" shouted a young boy, thrusting his fist forward. Laharl held the pose for a decidedly overlong and slightly awkward amount of time, before doing a rather complex twirl and looking in the other direction. It appeared... well, it appeared as though he were in the middle of a street of some kind. There were people openly gaping at him, likely never having seen a being of his power and ability. Grinning wide, Laharl crossed his hands over his chest, loving the familiar pose and thoroughly enjoying it.
"Yes, I am the great Laharl, Overlord!" he declared, before tilting his head back and laughing in the most maniacal way he possibly could. Several people stared, which was precisely what Laharl wanted. He threw his arm out to the side, his impossibly long red scarf fluttering with the motion. A single brass ring around his wrist clinked and clattered with the motion. His other hand gripped the hilt of an impressive looking sword, thrusting it out at people. "You should all bow before me, for I am the fierce--"
A couple of men in suits arrived, staring down the street at Laharl. most people had backed away, a few were looking for various officers of the law. The only people approaching were the two men in suits, who were taking several cautious steps toward the young man. Laharl turned his attentions upon them, pointing the impressive blade in their direction.
"Hold it right there, losers!" he announced. They kept moving. Laharl frowned. "I said stop! Come any closer and I'll be forced to show you the power of an Overlord!"
Yeah, they kept moving.
"I said halt! Fine! Have it your way, worms! YAAAAAAAAH!" and with that, Laharl thrust his hand forward, palm facing toward the suits. He looked down his arm as though it were a loaded gun. When he realized that, in fact, nothing was happening, Laharl stared at his fingers. Frowning, he slapped his hand against his side a few times, then thrust it out again, this time shouting: "HAAAA!"
still nothing.
"Huuggh!"
Nope.
"Take this!"
Nada.
"Overlord's Fury!"
And there was a burst of energy that shot toward the men...
..at least, that's how it went in Laharl's head. In real life, the nothing kept happening.
"Oh, screw this!" shouted the boy. He shifted his stance, bringing the sword around. with a great yell, he slashed his blade toward the two men, determined to cleave them in one---
A suit grabbed his arm, then came around with a strange device that Laharl dimly recognized as a taser of some kind. Before the young man could manage anything else, the tazer hit his bare chest. Laharl then jerked and spasmed as one is wont to do when electricity passes through one's body, before falling into a smoking heap upon the ground, still mumbling incoherently.
