The Outside and the In
Thomas Brodie-Sangster
Appearance: Wart is a pretty average looking teenage boy. He's lanky, awkward looking, with blonde hair and brown eyes. Unlike most of them, however, he usually stands straight and tall, with his hands at his sides, trying to make himself look bigger than he is. This is something he has picked up as being king, and, while it no longer matters, he still holds onto it. However, you probably won't notice that at first glace. The first time you see him, you'll probably notice his pale skin, which is surprisingly noticeable against his already pale blonde hair. His eyes are the darkest shade of color that shows up naturally on his body, a deep chocolaty brown. The color, whenever he looks in the mirror, surprises him, since he claims to have had blue eyes before in the animate world. To be honest, though, it would have been a bit hard to be certain since the only time he saw his reflection was in blue water.
Some of his mannerisms are rather... odd. He continues to use big, over exaggerated movements. Obviously, this looks extremely weird and sometimes is even impossible for him to do, causing injuries. He has pulled muscles just trying to make his smile wider. Also, he refuses to sit. He does it when it's appropriate, like at school or when he's asked, but when it is unneeded, he likes to be walking around, standing, or pacing. There is no particular reason for this that he knows of. This habit, however, effects one major thing. Sleep. Ever since he has shifted, sleep has been very difficult for him to accomplish. He wants to be moving, thinking, doing something. When he does sleep, he usually ends up sleep walking, or, at the very least, sleep talking.
As for his clothes, he continues to choose to wear something simple. A red shirt (no longer a tunic since he got teased by it) and a pair of jeans that bother him. If he had a choice, his clothes would be exactly the same as the ones him came in, but too many weird looks shied him away from that decision. Sometimes, when his hair refused to behave, he'll put on a small cap for the heck of it, but that is rarely.
Personality: In a few words, Wart is a kind, dependable, albeit a little clueless and clumsy boy. Sure, he's king, but it's really not his thing, so, in a sense, he was almost happy to leave the animated world. Although, he does miss Archimedes and Merlin and, sometimes, even Kay desperately. A big reason for that is that he gets easily attached to people. However, that doesn't always mean he's trusting. Despite his age, he could be described as wise, mostly because he can tell if someone is particularly cunning or if they are amazingly kind just by watching how they move. If you hadn't guessed, this is something Merlin taught him, due to the obvious fact that if he became too trusting, the whole kingdom could crumble. In truth, though, this talent is a little rusty due to the shift, but he is slowly recovering it.
Wart continues to keep some of the traditions that existed in the animated world, mostly concerning language. Words like 'queer' and 'awful' still mean 'odd' and 'full of awe' to him, causing some... interesting situations. He also is still getting used to many modern things, and currently refuses to use computers, cell phones, TVs, etc. They simply creep him out since he knows very little about them.
However, out of all of this, you might be surprised to find that he doesn't smile much. Wart just isn't really like that. He has fun. A lot. And he's happy even more often than he has fun, but 'happy' is defined very differently when you're a king. When you're happy, you most likely should say so and move onto more important things, not really act on it. So, more often than not, he comes off as more serious than he is. And, of course, being the awkward, clueless, klutz he is, he doesn't realize it. This also means, he gets very few jokes, and if you even try, you'll probably end up explaining it. And, to go along with his clumsiness, please try not to surprise or scare him. He might start screaming for the cops (one of the first things he learned about when he arrived).
One more thing you should know is that he is an idealist.

Right Up to that Key Moment
History:
Wart remembers everything. Or, at least, he thinks so.
When he was a young child, so far back that he doesn't remember, his father died and he lived with his uncle. This fact honestly doesn't bother him, since he feels that if he did die, it must have been fate for him to be here (he has a very strong belief in fate). His childhood, war fairly uninteresting and entirely focused on him becoming a squire, something that eventually turned into a dream job. The focus on his training prevented him from any other education, so he didn't learn to read and write until he was much, much older. When he was 12 actually.
And when he was 12 is when the interesting stuff began.
One day, when he was hunting with his half-brother and future master, Kay, he caused him to make a foul shot into the forest. Dismayed by Kay's anger at this incident, he decided to go into the forest and retrieve the lost arrow. He almost got it to. The branch he was on to reach the arrow snapped and he fell through the roof into the home of a magician named Merlin. Merlin, who was convinced he was someone of importance, offered to teach him. More or less, Wart agreed to this and let him to accompany him to the castle.
Over time, Merlin taught him many things, often turning him to different animals to do so. These animals included a fish, squirrel, and bird. He also slowly began to learn to read and write (something he still isn't very good at). However, his decision to be Kay's squire over Merlin caused Merlin to blast off to somewhere called 'Bermuda' in the future. As Kay's squire, he forgot the all-important sword. He couldn't get Kay's sword and instead found one lodged in a stone in a church courtyard. He quickly realized this made him King.
At first, Wart was very against being King until Merlin returned. After that, he discovered that being King, while restrictive and difficult, wasn't all that bad. He continued to learn from both Merlin and his pet owl Archimedes until he was Shifted.
Now he just worries about the well-being of his country and hopes it isn't falling apart in his absence.
Key Moment: Wart was traveling through the forest to a nearby town, when Merlin told him to get down. While he isn't completely sure what was going on, he figures they were being attacked. After a moment, the world went white and he ended up in a world he didn't recognize. He thinks that maybe Merlin sent him here, but he has no basis for this theory.

A Roleplaying Shift
RP Sample:
Wart just kind of stood there, rather confounded. Honestly, he didn’t know how to react in this situation. He’d gone on lots of queer adventures before, but this was beyond any of those. It was weirder than that time he’d found Archimedes as a human.
He hadn’t realized someone was screaming until he turned to see a wide gaping mouth and a pointed finger almost stabbing him in the eye. She was moving in slow motion, and when he moved his arm to push her hand down, he discovered that he was moving just as slowly as she was.
Then there was this odd kind of audible snap, and everything was back to normal. He smacked her hand aside—quite a bit harder than he meant to—and stumbled back.
The women wasn’t screaming anymore, just staring at him with one hand covering her mouth.
Wart blinked for a moment and then stammered out. “Hel-hello. Can you please tell me where I am?”
It was now, as he gave the slightest little bow, that he noticed a long green snake was clutched in the lady’s hand. It was spitting out water through a brass mouth, so much that it had to be unhealthy for the poor creature. Perhaps it was ill and vomiting. But wait. Could snakes vomit?
Next thing he knew, the water (or perhaps vomit) was spraying all over him, as the lady pointed the brass mouth at him and drenched him in it.
He gasped at how cold it was, even worse than the cold that spread through castle during the wintertime. Now, he was as straight as a stick, and simply taking it, too surprised to even move.
Soon enough, the spray went away and he dared to look at the lady again. She was being talked to by a strange man, dressed all in black. His clothes were very odd, and, now that he thought about it, so was the ladies. She was wearing trousers that cut off well above the knee, and on top, there was a shirt. And it wasn’t good enough to show off her underwear, it also exposed almost her entire arm and shoulder. The only thing holding it up was a thin strap that went around her neck.
He looked away politely. No wonder she had been alarmed. He was obviously expecting nobody to see her.
The two oddly dressed people were talking quietly. Or rather, the man in black talked while the women listened in quiet shock. After a second of quiet talking and of looking away, the man slipped some sort of green paper into her hand. She seemed happy as she waved good-bye and left him alone with the man in black.
“Welcome,” said the man in black.
Wart looked up at him questionably. “Where am I?”
“You’re in reality. You’ll find it’s a very pleasant place, albeit a little restrictive,” he paused, and then stuck out his hand, “I’m Simon. It is a true pleasure to meet you.”
Wart stared at the hand for a moment, then looked back at Simon’s face.
Simon put the hand down and suddenly turned rather serious. “How are you feeling?”
Wart debated this for a moment. “Confused.”
“Is that all? Not scared or worried or anything?”
“N-no. Should I be?”
“Nah,” Simon was smiling now, “What’s your name.”
“Arthur. But most people just call me—“ he cut himself off, realizing that people didn’t call him ‘Wart’ anymore, but rather ‘king’.
“Call you what?”
“King Arthur.”
“That’s not an animation…” Simon muttered.
“An animal nation?”
“Nothing,” Simon said after a moment, “Do you have anything else your called by? King seems like a mouthful.”
“You can call me Wart if you want,” Wart told him, kind of relived that at least one person wasn’t comfortable with calling him ‘king’.”
“Oh! That makes a lot more sense.”
“It does?”
“Yeah,” Simon said with a small smile, “Listen. I can take you some place where you’ll be safe. It’s called Tenebrae. We even get you education, movies, friends—“
“Movie?”
Simon laughed, “Oh, it’ll make sense later, but I think if I explained it now, you’d just end up more confused than you already are.”
There was an awkward pause while Wart thought.
“You wanna come?” Simon broke the silence.
“If I won’t be attacked by more vomiting green snakes,” Wart said solemnly.
“Green snakes…” Simon whispered, obviously not really wanting Wart to hear, “Well… No. No, I don’t think you’ll get attacked by any of those there.”
“Then I’ll come if you like, but I should probably find Merlin soon.”
“Right. And maybe we can help.”
“Maybe…” Wart muttered, but a part of him doubted that. In fact, he doubted even being able to find him on his own. Some part of him deep, deep inside that he didn't really want to believe existed told him that life might never go back to how it was, no matter how hard he tried.
