Face Claim/PB
Ryan Turner
Appearance: Obviously, Tails looks quite different as a human than he did as a fox. One trait that he did carry over from his fox form is the color of his hair. His orange fur as a fox carried over into the bright orange-red hair that he has as a human. Though he aged a little during the shift, he still has rather youthful features, and is estimated to be at a physical age of only about 12 (as opposed to 8 back home). He usually wears what he deems to be comfortable. One staple of his appearance is the red and white tennis shoes that carried over with him in the shift, that he wears with just about everything.
Personality:
One of Tails' most noticeable traits is his love for mechanics. Showing a high intelligence and an aptitude for mechanics at a very young age, Tails quickly became of a sort of mechanical prodigy. He is probably his happiest when he is tinkering away with some sort of machine.
He is loyal almost to a fault to his best friend, Sonic, looking up to and even idolizing the older half of the duo. Though Sonic helped to bring him out of his shell, he still had a hard time believing that he could actually do things for himself, and still suffered from the occasional confidence issue. Eventually, as time passed, he started to grow out of the hero-worship phase and realized that he had his own talents, and that he should be working on honing his own abilities rather than trying to amount to a clone of Sonic. Since then, he's focused on his love of inventing to pave his own way.
Even then, Tails can still be naive, and often fails to think before speaking. He hates the feeling of being dismissed, especially now that he's built up his confidence to a more acceptable level, going so far as to get offended when someone tries to brush him off as 'just a sidekick' or criticizing his inventing. That said, he is still rather humble when it comes to his talents. Though this may be seen as a good trait to have, it has actually kept him from reaching his full potential as a mechanic because, in assuming that something is too far out of reach for him, he may not even attempt to try it.

Right Up to that Key Moment
History:
From the moment that he was born, it was clear that Miles Prower was going to be different. The proof in the pudding? He was born with two tails.
In his early years, Miles (who soon became known primarily by his nickname, Tails) struggled with his confidence. As one might expect for a shy, mechanical prodigy born with an odd trait, Tails had to walk an uphill battle in an attempt to find acceptance from his peers, and it was a battle he wasn't willing to fight...
...until he met Sonic.
Slowly, Tails started to come out of his shell as he worked with Sonic. The hedgehog soon became his best friend, and offered support to Tails that the fox had never seen before. He started to realize that his technical skills were something to be proud of, and something that he could use to his advantage. He didn't have to just stand on the sidelines, he could actually help Sonic. There were still obstacles to overcome, however. Though he had more confidence, Tails was still under the impression that he was little more than Sonic's sidekick. He could offer his help to his friend, but there was little that he could do on his own.
When Tails was in Station Square, Dr. Eggman (Tails' and Sonic's most formidable foe) attacked. For once, Sonic was not there to save the day. Tails was the only one in the area who had the ability to put an end to it. This encounter forced Tails to realize that maybe, just maybe, he didn't always need Sonic.
Tails succeeded in stopping Dr. Eggman on his own that day, and his confidence grew since that point. He still sticks with Sonic most of the time in their battles against Dr. Eggman and other foes. Despite his higher confidence levels, he still prefers to stick to the background and let Sonic take the limelight.
Key Moment: Tails made the mistake of accidentally blabbing to Dr. Eggman a trick that he, Sonic, and their allies were planning on pulling. Tails found himself wishing that he could sink through the floor when he realized what he did - and then, suddenly, he found himself at Tenebrae.

I can't believe I just did that! Stupid Tails! Now what are we going to do?
Tails closed his eyes, wishing that he could fade into the floor. Him and his stupid mouth. How could he have spilled the beams to Dr. Eggman? Everyone was going to be so disappointed in him! He wanted to sink into the floor.
When Tails opened his eyes, he discovered that he was no longer with Dr. Eggman, but instead an unfamiliar area. His eyes widened at once as his gaze shot this way and that. Where was he? And why did he feel so funny?
The fox went to fly over the area, using the unique skill that his two tails provided him with. He soon realized that he could not feel either tail - and when he looked back, he made his most startling discovery yet - His tails were gone.
"Hello there sweetie. You look lost. Can I help you?"
Tails turned at once, not sure if he should trust the woman that was approaching him or not. He had turned up some place he'd never seen before, after all - and while he was with Dr. Eggman, no less. For all he knew this might be a trap.
"A-Are you one of Dr. Eggman's?" Great Tails, way to sound intimidating. The stutter sure made a great impression.
The woman looked confused. Tails felt relief go through him. If she didn't even know who Dr. Eggman was, there was little chance that this was a trap. This, however, didn't provide much in way of answers. He was just as lost as ever.
"No, I'm afraid not. What is your name, if you don't mind me asking?"
Tails still wasn't entirely sure that he should trust her, but he didn't think he'd get answers unless he went along with it. "Miles Prower."
"Well, I'm sure you have a few questions. As you might have guessed, I have answers to those questions..."
