Someone Didn't Forget {open}

[Twilight Sparkle]

Twilight Sparkle stared at the tarp, stared hard. It had been there for a while now, months, really. An invisibility ray of some kind had blasted through several layers of forest floor, peeling them back till it revealed what had appeared to be some kind of hidden bunker. The staff had panicked. The problem was that there had been a lot to panic about at the time. Animals had ransacked the mall, the houses had been splattered by meaty beings, and then there was this. Since the other two incidents were closer to home, there had been significantly more focus on making sure that they got solved first. Which was why they'd just thrown a tarp over this and forgot about it.

But now Twilight was here to investigate. It had been a while since she'd actively done any investigating into things. She'd been mostly acclimating to her situation: the new place, the new people, getting used to Rainbow as a roommate. Now though, now Twilight could sneak off and do some looking. It helped that it was cold, with snow being threatened in the forecast. Twilight's breath came out in little puffs and she'd actually had to wear a light purple coat that she was sure Rarity would scoff at. But Rarity wasn't here, so Twilight had gone practical.

"So why reveal this?" she murmured, stepping closer. She toed the edge of the ground cautiously, frowning. She had her magic now, or at least a fair amount of it. Which meant that it had finally been time to investigate this area firsthand. Thankfully Rainbow knew exactly where it was, so finding it hadn't been a problem. Twilight stared at the tarp though, and cautiously extended a mitten-covered hand. Purple energy swirled and she tugged at the tarp a little. She'd barely moved it when she heard a loud popping sound, which made her jump, lose her balance, and drop the tarp at all once. She slid on some loose leaves, falling over the ground until the tarp caught her. There, Twilight stared into the sky, breathing hard and wondering just what had happened.

It had been a tough week for Darwin. There was the incident with Fluttershy, the whole formal fiasco, and now the laundry for the dorms was down. Not even the video of Fairy Princess Zuko could help the embodiment of chaos smile today. So he figured why not take a walk to where everything began for him here. Hopefully he could think of something. This entire affair was starting to grate on every single nerve of his. Had he his powers, there would be building torn from thier foundation and spinning, some fruit based meteorlogical event, and at least three new creatures running amuck through the downtown area. The most he had done here was embarass his roommate, release the horses of a nearby barn, and the downtown stuff.

The one time his randomness was useful was here, in this forest, in this place. And again it was that stick that appears to have given him away. The tall boy walked over to a startled Twilight and held out a hand to help her up. A pair of sunglasses over his eyes. Pure black heavy outfit surrounding him. His face was even covered with fuz on the lip, chin, and cheeks forming the foundation of a beard, but there was no doubt who it was.

Twilight kept staring. The scraggly beard threw her off, but there was no denying that she was facing Discord, yet again. And for not the first time, Twilight fervently wished that some of her friends were nearby, laying in wait for this particular villain. Yes, villain, because Twilight still couldn't quite wrap her head around the whole "reformed thing," especially as Discord kept... well, actually he kept acting like he was reformed, but that was almost what bothered Twilight. Shouldn't there be some mischief there? He was just acting too good, especially since Fluttershy wasn't standing over his shoulder giving him the Stare.

"I can get up," she said. Twilight flicked her hand out, extending a bit of magical energy. In a flash of purple light she went from lying down on the ground to standing a few feet from Discord, purposefully putting some tarp between them. Once upright again, Twilight began dusting herself off. This required looking down at her disheveled pants, which was probably a good thing, since it drew attention to the fact that the tarp was now glowing.

No, wait, the thing under the tarp was glowing. Twilight stared at it for a while, frowning, and then she looked up at Discord again the frown staying. "Is this you?" she asked, pointing. "Did you finally get some of your powers back?" Not like that wouldn't be one of Twilight's worst nightmares or anything.

Darwin simply lowered his hand back down when Twilight refused his help. Just standing there as the tarp was now between the two. A bit of glowing underneath it. He turned his attention to it and shook his head despite the hood blocking most of the view of it. "If I had 1% of my magical powers back, you think my stroll through town the other day would have been as calm as it was." Calling that mess calm was like calling the surface of the sun luke warm or a Pinkie Party 'A nice quiet gathering of a couple friends.'

He bent down and grabbed the edge of the tarp, uncerimoniously lifting up what he could of it, and possibly just removing the tarp all together like a cloth from a table in a magic trick. Sure being subtle was not one of Discord's strong suits, but there was also an air of not caring in the way he did it. It was almost as if he wanted to look directly at some form of chaos. As if he had brought a bag of marshmellows, a lawn chair, and a long stick to watch the world burn.

Twilight wasn't completely certain what walk Discord was referring to. She did recall the falling out he'd had with Fluttershy a few days ago... dimly. She'd been there toward the end of it, having shown up to give Discord the tongue lashing he so soundly deserved. It wasn't as though she'd really planned on being there or anything; she'd just been in the right place at slightly the wrong time. It definitely wasn't something she wanted to think about now, with the glowing tarp in front of her.

And it did frustrate Twilight that Discord had nothing to do with this. Discord was an easy answer, a problem that Twilight already knew the answer to. This? This strange glowing thing? Yeah, Twilight had no idea what to do about that. She was, however, pretty sure that picking up the tarp unceremoniously was a bad idea.

"Don't do that!" she said, extending her hand and magic again. The purple glow surrounded the tarp, 'porting it out of Discord's hands. Twilight tried not to look smug about having that much of her magical energies back. It had taken months of hard training and getting involved with just about everything around here, both of which she thought were definitely key to restoring your abilities, which was definitely not a secret she planned on sharing with Discord anytime soon. "This is something that should be examined carefully, not pulled about at random. Do you really want to end up being blasted by whatever did that?" she gestured toward it, then turned and frowned. Sure, she might have just told Discord off about it, but that didn't mean that Twilight had the slightest idea what they actually should be doing.

Darwin groaned as she teleported the tarp just out of his hand. "Right now, yes. It would be a result." He looked around for the tree that seemed to be the big hit target or epicenter of the invisibility ray. "If there is anything in there, it is probably the invisibility ray. Something that was defeated with a water bottle. Worst case scenario. It's suits sterilizing and trying to torn the area visible again."
