The Outside and the In
Face Claim/PB
Tsumabo Satoshi
Appearance: There's something uptight about Hiro. You can tell just by looking at him that this is a guy who has trouble relaxing. His clothing is nearly always perfect, though he does seem to prefer whatever fits him best. This is not a matter of comfort so much as it is practicality: Hiro still has something of a fighter's mindset, and he lets that drive his clothing choice (as well as his personal bearing). So he dresses far more... ascetically than ye average teenager. Plus, he has a tendency to carry a twin pair of katanas with him wherever he goes, mostly because this, along with a blue bandana and some pads, was all he had on him when he Shifted.
He does look like someone you can depend on, however, and he tries his best to present this type of person. Back straight, steady strides, and an alert walk. He looks, well, he kind of looks like someone who led a group of ninja...
Personality: Hiro is a natural born leader and fighter. There's just something in him that strives to take charge of a situation and head forward. Along those lines, he has an extreme "white knight complex," meaning his tendency to charge in and save people is by far his strongest guiding instinct. Oddly enough, however, he does possess something of a tendency to see the world in shades of gray. He always sticks with what's right, however, and he goes with his gut, even if its wrong. And, for a teenager, he is strangely responsible.
Still, he has moments. For starters, he has a bit of a reckless streak to him, (not as bad as most of his brothers, but it's there). His pride will occasionally get the better of him as well; not so much in his tendency to fight people (Hiro avoids fights just as a general rule), but in that he doesn't like to have others help him. It takes a lot for Hiro to let someone in to aid or assist him. He prefers to keep a level of distance between him and the outside world. In many ways, he sees people as either obstacles he has to overcome or victims he has to save, with all the shades of gray in between.
There is, however, the image of a girl... a pretty girl... a pretty ninja girl that haunts his dreams, often forcing Hiro to wake up in a cold sweat. He also vaguely recalls having three brothers and a close father. But he can only seem to remember that they, too, were trained in martial arts. He really hopes that they didn't all run around naked, because that would have been extremely awkward to explain to people.
He also has a strange obsession with Star Trek and Space Heroes, often quoting from them from memory.

Right Up to that Key Moment
History:
Hiro was borne when a canister of strange mutagen fell into the hands of ninja master Hamato Yoshi. The mutagen affected Hiro (then known as Leonardo) and his brothers, transforming them into mutant turtles. Hamato, too, was transformed, though he became a rat, as such a creature had bitten him just prior to his own transformation. The ninja master took the four turtles in as his son, raising them with love, kindness and discipline. Leonardo and his brothers would become ninja.
Then, one day, Leo and his brothers begged to be allowed onto the surface for the first time ever. Hamato, who had at this point become Splinter, reluctantly allowed the sons he loved so much into the outside world. Leo and his brothers took to the streets, swearing to use their skills to help people. They just happened to run into a group of aliens known as the Kraang, who happened to be kidnapping this girl called April O'Neill. Donatello, Leo's brother, happened to fall instantly in like with the girl, and the foursome ended up rescuing her, which they likely would have done anyway.
From there, things got, well, crazy. Leo and his brothers not only had the Kraang to deal with, but Shredder, an old nemesis of Splinter, had returned, seeing the turtles as an army. He and his Foot Clan wage war against the turtles. One of said clan happens to be a young girl named Karai, who, despite her relative youth, demonstrates ninja abilities at least equal to the brothers. Leo met her first, and there were most certainly sparks between the two of them. They would regularly quarrel, fight, and flirt, sometimes on the same side, but as often as not working against one another.
Then, one day, Karai approached the turtles. She would help them fight the Kraang, even providing the superior weapons they needed to take out a Kraang ship following them. Though the brothers were reluctant, thanks in no small part to Karai's treacherous nature, they still agreed. It was just as they were finalizing their plan that their leader Shifted...
Key Moment: Very Important for canonmates: Hiro was taken halfway through ep 20 of the show. He still believes that Karai is their ally. The turtles have not gone behind her back to attempt to attack Shredder at any point.

A Roleplaying Shift
RP Sample:
The young man was nearly naked and standing in what appeared to be a sewer of some kind. He blinked, raising a hand and staring into the dim light. He could feel the cool air of the sewer thick upon his skin, the filth of it clinging to him. That slight shift caused the pair of swords slung across his bared back to slide, their worn leather feeling strangely familiar. the man could feel a few other bits sticking out of the belt he wore slung around his waist, and he could certainly feel the pads upon his elbows and knees. He lowered his hand and his gaze, taking quick note of the utter lack of anything else resembling clothing.
"That's... odd," he murmured, his voice belaying his Asian countenance. His accent was perfect American, with only the slightest hint of Japanese. It occurred to the young man that he did, in fact, know enough of both languages... he also felt he could use every bit of weaponry on his person. He even had memories of doing... more with them, more than he felt he could do now...
"Young man?" a voice called in the dark. Reflexes took over, and the young man drew both swords, holding them comfortably. He spun and pointed one into the dark, the tip of the blade dangerously near the man. He happened to be wearing a suit of some kind, and that caused the young man to tighten his grip. He wasn't sure why, but he just knew that men in suits were not good.
"I'm not your enemy," the man said. Something about it rang true, though the young man didn't lower his weapon. "I'm here because we, well, we know about you. Roughly."
"That makes one of us," said the young man. He shifted his grip, tightening slightly.
"Don't you remember anything?"
The young man paused. He lowered his weapon slightly, looking a little abashed. "I... I remember how to use these... and I obviously know how to talk. I think I know Japanese and... and quotes from some strange show... and a girl...? and some... brothers?"
"What about a name?"
"A name..?" repeated the young man. He blinked, then raised a hand to scratch at his head. Weird, but he didn't remember having hair before. "Uh... Yoshi... I think, but, uh, that's my... dad's name?"
"Well, Mr. Yoshi, if you'll come with us, we'll get you settled in. Get you some clothes too."
"Right, that sounds... good."
