The Outside and the In
Face Claim/PB:
(( Jon Foo ))
Appearance: The first thing most people notice about Goku is his physical condition. He is very much in shape with very well defined muscles and light skin, and pretty tall at that. His hair is black and often very messy, and his eyes are dark brown. He doesn't have very many other distinctive features aside from his muscles, although he tends to exclusively wear his Kame-School orange-and-blue Gui, which has become trademark for him. In fact, Goku rarely wears anything aside from martial art Guis, even when out and about in public, which isn't truly a surprise considering how and where he grew up. It's obvious that he is always - always - ready for a fight, even if it's at a moments notice.
Personality: Normally, Goku is a very upbeat kind of guy. His lack of intelligence often makes him look like an idiot and it wouldn't be too much of an exaggeration, but he is a gentle, pure-hearted person in his core. He is the ultimate force of good, incapable of doing very much wrong even when forced too. He is against killing, although has done it on occasion, and believes in the good in all hearts as well as second chances - but this has also become a sort of weakness as his tendency to let his enemies live with a promised second chance mostly forces them to rebound on him. Still, he only grants others one chance to change their ways before bringing down the hammer as he sees fit.
Living to fight, Goku never turns down a challenge. He loves the thrill of a good battle, and often allows his enemies to use the full extent of their strength to have as great a battle with them as he can - this can also turn into a weakness, as allowing his enemies to achieve their strongest power could very easily jeopardize his and others' lives. Goku spends much of his free time training for the next challenge, always getting stronger and always pushing his limits. He is a very influential person and tends to help inspire those around him with his charismatic, slightly naive outlook on his goals and life in general, making him an almost perfect white knight and leader to his friends. Speaking of friends, making them isn't necessarily very hard for Goku - but it's more common for his enemies to transition into friends than for him to actually make new ones.
As it says above, Goku isn't really the sharpest tool in the shed. He never had formal schooling and probably can't read, write, etc., but this doesn't seem to phase him too much. One of Goku's favorite things to do aside from fighting is eating, and Goku has a gigantic appetite - where as one course might fill you or me, five meals would fill Goku.
All in all, Goku is the life of the party, the savior of the people, and the clueless martial artist. He strives to improve and find new challenges, and faces new horizons with a smile and a fist, ready to take on the world.

Right Up to that Key Moment
History: Kakarot was born to the Saiyan Warrior Bardock on Planet Vegeta. As a small child, Goku's power level was embarrassingly small - to the point where his father was disgusted with him. He was sent to Planet Earth just before Lord Frieza destroyed Planet Vegeta, crashing into the middle of the forest in his space pod. He was discovered by an old man named Son Gohan who lived in the mountains nearby, and took him under his wing, naming him Son Goku. Goku was a problem child. He often acted up, threw fits, bit, cried, destroyed, etc., all traits that carried over from him being a Saiyan - but these were not traits Gohan tolerated. One day, by chance, Goku accidentally fell into a rocky chasm, bumping his head really hard against the stone. When Gohan found him, he was very relieved to see he was okay, and happy to notice that Goku had dramatically transformed into the perfect little boy, always helping out, minding his manners, and being very, very well behaved.
Eventually, Gohan died as a direct result of Goku's odd Saiyan power of transforming into the great Oozaru, a gigantic ape-monster that rampaged during a full moon. Since then, Goku lived alone, but not sad, worshiping the only remaining artifact Gohan left behind - the Four-Star Dragon Ball. When a girl named Bulma arrives, telling him of the legend of the Dragon Balls and how if all eight are brought together, a dragon appears and grants you a wish. Eventually, he decided to go along with her on her travels, taking his Dragon Ball and adding it with her own, searching for the rest with a special radar Bulma made herself.
On this adventure, Goku encounters new people, finds the Dragon Balls, trains under Master Roshi, defeats much of the Red Ribbon Army, and even takes out the great King Piccolo. He even gets married to Chi-Chi, a girl he picked up on his travels who practically tricked him into marrying her.
Still, this did not prevent them from having a son. Named after his grandfather, Gohan was very young when Goku's next adventure began. Gathering at Roshi's for a friendly get-together, Goku and friends were interrupted by Raditz, a Saiyan who claimed to be Goku's brother. Disgusted at the fact that Goku failed to kill all life on Earth, he gives Goku the ultimatum of killing one-hundred humans in a day, and stealing Gohan away to ensure that his message got through. Stopped by a single knee to the chest, Goku combines forces with his old enemy Piccolo to save Gohan and the fate of Earth.
The two were almost completely hopeless against Raditz, who outmatched both of them vastly - but the two never give up. As Goku held the Saiyan in place, Piccolo fired off a Special Beam Cannon that tore right through the both of them, killing them but saving the world. However, with his final breaths, Radits communicates with his comrades in space, mockingly informing them that they have a year before the other Saiyans arrive before he dies.
Death does not stop Goku, though. In the afterlife, Goku is given permission to cross the thousand-mile Snake Way road to meet with the Grand Kai, and further his training to prepare himself for the oncoming Saiyan Invasion. Eventually he crosses it and arrives on the Kai's small planet, surprised to feel that the gravity there is twice that of Earth's, and Goku has some trouble maintaining his balance. The training begins right away with Goku chasing the Grand Kai's ape, Bubbles, until he adjusts to the gravity change. Over the next year, Goku continues to train with the Grand Kai, learning the Kaio-Ken and Spirit Bomb techniques. Once their time is up, Goku is wished back to life with the Dragon Balls and hurries to help fight the Saiyans with his friends.
But he arrives too late. Yamcha, Chiaotzu, Tien, and Piccolo are already dead, and Krillin and Gohan are almost down. Just as Nappa, one of the two attacking Saiyans, is about to finish them off, Goku defeats him with great ease. This intrigues Vegeta, the second of the Saiyans, who kills Nappa himself and flies off with Goku to a deserted wasteland where they can have their ultimate battle in peace. The two fight, and Goku holds his own for quite some time, proving that even a low-class warrior and defeat and elite if he puts his mind to it. After a dramatic beam-clash (Goku's Kame-Hame-Ha versus Vegeta's Galick Gun), the battle appears to be over - but Vegeta is not done yet. Using an energy ball, he transforms into an Oozaru - something Goku can no longer do, due to the fact that his tail was removed. Unlike Goku, Vegeta could control himself while he was transformed, and beat Goku into a corner in their fight. Krillin and Gohan come to his rescue, but in the end it's Yajirobe who slices off Vegeta's tail and returns him to his humanoid form. Angered and wounded, Vegeta is attacked by Gohan (who was now also an Oozaru, thanks to Vegeta's own attack) and ends up crushing him, even though Vegeta nips his tail.
When the final Spirit Bomb is used, Vegeta is defeated. But Goku forbids Krillin from killing him, even though he was responsible for the deaths of many. Vegeta takes the initiative and flies off, leaving Earth for the time being.
With so many of them dead, the Z-Fighters need to find a way to bring back their friends - but the Dragon Balls can only revive a person once, and they've already used the balls on them. However, they learn that there is a new set of Dragon Balls on Planet Namek, the planet that Piccolo originates from, and Bulma accompanies Gohan and Krillin as they travel across space to find them. Goku, very badly injured from his fight with Vegeta, needs to stay back in order to rest and heal up. All is not well, though, as Lord Frieza catches wind of the Namekian Dragon Balls and sets off for Namek himself, finding quite a few of them.
Once Goku is back in shape, he takes a specially designed space ship with a gravitational training room from Earth to Namek and trains his hardest to stop Frieza. When he arrives on Namek a week after leaving Earth, Vegeta, Gohan, and Krillin temporarily teamed up to defeat Frieza's Ginyu Force, which was causing them quite a bit of problems. But, much to their surprise, Goku defeated many of them without exerting too much energy, while Vegeta continued to kill them. In his battle with Ginyu, though, he ends up being caught in his body swapping power, taking control of Ginyu while Ginyu controls Goku. During this fight, Goku's body takes quite a beating and while he still wins, he needs to spend quite some time in a medical tank to rest.
With his henchmen exterminated, Frieza stepped into the fray himself, taking on Gohan, Krillin, Vegeta, as well as Piccolo, who had been wished to life from Earth to Namek, as he wasn't summoned with them before. They held their own for quite some time, but Frieza's Final Form was too much for them, and he severely wounded most of them before Goku healed and rushed to the battle - but was not able to save Vegeta, who was the first to fall to Frieza. He stood on relatively even ground with Frieza, but even he began to be overpowered, until Frieza was distracted long enough for him to drop a gigantic Spirit Bomb on the tyrant, blasting a hole in the side of the planet but, as it first appeared, saving the day. Frieza was not dead, however, and upon his return blasted a hole through Piccolo and blew Krillin sky-high.
This was his ultimate mistake, as with such an emotional flare of anger sparked in Goku that he unlocked his true power and became a Super Saiyan, using his new-found power to outmatch Frieza. Fighting dirty, Frieza sent a Death Ball into the planet's core, giving the two five minutes to fight before the planet exploded. During this time, a small Namekian named Dende used the Namekian Dragon Balls to wish all of the planet's current inhabitants (aside from Goku and Frieza) onto Earth, escaping before the planet exploded. The battle was long, taxing, and fierce - it seemed as though neither party would win, but Goku noticed how once Frieza powered up to his full potential, his strength started to dwindle. He tried to exploit this, but in the end he fell to his own arrogance, dying from his own Destructo-Disks that curved around and sliced him from the waist. Or so it seemed. Goku, as kind-hearted as always, gave Frieza enough energy to leave the planet without having to die. But he proved untrustworthy as he sent an all-out attack at Goku, who easily blasted through it and vaporized Frieza before he could threaten anyone else.
But Goku was running out of time now. He tried using Frieza's spaceship to escape, but it was broken beyond repair - instead, he jumped inside one of Ginyu's pods and flew to the next location the force was going to - Planet Yardrat. His companions believed him to be dead, until the Grand Dragon Shenron confirms that he hasn't died, but does not wish to come back to Earth at this time. It was here that Goku learned the Instant Transmission ability.
Learning that Frieza is returning, Goku took the Ginyu pod to Earth to stop him, only to find that a mysterious new Super Saiyan had already defeated him. This new Saiyan, Trunks, originated from an alternate timeline where Goku had died of a heart condition and Androids ruined all life on Earth. He delivered medicine to stop the disease to Goku to make sure he would stay alive, and warned them to prepare for the Androids in three years time.
Three years later, on queue, Android 20 and Android 19 arrive to kill the Z-Fighters. They almost kill Yamcha, who is saved with a Senzu bean, and are lured out of the city to combat them somewhere safer. Even though Goku is a Super Saiyan, Android 19 has no trouble beating him around as the heart condition Trunks warned him of starts to take effect in the middle of the battle. Vegeta, now a Super Saiyan himself, destroys 19 with ease while Yamcha and Chi-Chi give Goku the medicine to save his life. However, these Androids are not the ones that Trunks warned them of, although Android 20 speaks of releasing Androids 17 and 18, flying off. Once activated, they turn on 20 and kill him, activating Android 16 as well, who was created to be Goku's assassin.
The Z-Fighters struggle to defeat the Androids, but Piccolo discovers that they are only the tip of the ice burg. A biological creature named Cell, created from DNA taken from Goku and his friends/enemies, was designed to absorb Androids 17 and 18 to become perfect, kill Goku, and wreak havoc. He succeeds in absorbing 17 first, transforming into his Imperfect Form. During this time, Goku takes Trunks, Vegeta, and Gohan to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber in Kami's lookout, a special training room in which the span of a year is twisted to only last a day, allowing them to train for a year in only 24 hours. While inside, Goku unlocks the Ultra Super Saiyan power (although it heavily decreases his speed), and pushes Gohan until he, too, becomes a Super Saiyan. Due to Vegeta's own pride, while Goku and Gohan are in the chamber after him and Trunks, he allows Cell to absorb 18 and become Perfect, which allows him to easily overcome Vegeta and Trunks even with Trunks' Ultra Super Saiyan Form.
Soon after, Cell announces that he will be holding the 'Cell Games' in ten days, a tournament where any who think they can defeat him can stand up to him. For ten days, Goku and Gohan train and go about their business while in Super Saiyan Form, in order to become more accustom to it. Goku appoints Dende as the new Kami, and he creates a new set of Dragon Balls that Goku then gathers for after the Tournament.
Key Moment: The day of the tournament is the day Goku is Shifted. He volunteers to face Cell first, steps onto the arena, and vanishes before he can begin the fight.

A Roleplaying Shift
RP Sample: You could cut the tension with a butcher knife. That was how the air felt at these 'Cell Games'. Everyone looked at Goku as if he lit his hair on fire when he volunteered, but knew it had to be done. There was no way around the fact that someone would have to defeat Cell, and if not Goku, then who? The whole world was watching - they could see the camera crews and news anchors keeping their distance from the initial group of fighters - but they all seemed to be focused mostly on Mr. Satan. They didn't know who he was, but he did buy them time, if only by letting himself be injured. Flipping, Goku almost gracefully floated down in front of Cell, a few meters away but both of them were relatively centered in the wide-open stone battleground. Around them were four great pillars that signified the corners of the arena, and beyond them was rolling plains, dotted with destroyed tanks and airplanes and the like. The world tried to resist Cell, but they were simply not strong enough.
And to be honest, Goku didn't think himself strong enough either. Still, this would be fun, no?
"You are bold, Son Goku."
No one spoke aside from Cell. There was not a peep made by any of the Z-Fighters, nor were the anchormen/women chatting from the false safety of their rocks. It was just silent.
"Perhaps too bold for your own good."
"Thanks, but I am not joking around now. Are you ready, Cell?"
Taking a deep breath, Goku threw his arms to his sides and flared up with golden energy that flowed upward, tinting his hair yellow and turning his eyes a greenish hue. Preparing himself, he got into his standard opening stance - he didn't know what Cell was going to do first, after all. Maybe he should make the first move, though. You can never tell when they're going to just ...
And then it happened. Goku began to sprint forward, and then just... just disappeared.
The tension in the air vanished just as fast as he did. The silence was replaced with a sudden flood of voices and people, and it took Goku more than a few moments to realize that he wasn't in the arena anymore. But... how? Why? What? His golden aura faded, and his hair fell back into place. Looking around, it didn't seem like anyone really noticed him - aside from a single woman with short hair that stood directly in front of him.
"Welcome to the Tenebrae Estates. We are so very pleased to have you."
"Th-the...Tene-what?"
"Tenebrae Estates. You have been brought here, do enjoy your stay."
He blinked. Brought here? By who? Why would he be brought here? He couldn't stay here! Not now! He needed to stop Cell before it was too late! Placing both his index and middle finger on his forehead, he closed his eyes and concentrated. He could just teleport back, and maybe Cell hadn't attacked anyone else yet? He didn't know. Cell was unpredictable. But the sounds around him never disappeared, and when he opened his eyes he found himself staring at the same woman. Why couldn't he use his instant-transmission to get back? He remembered exactly what it looked like, and where it was. There should be no problem.
"Look, I really gotta get back befo-"
"We apologize, but you cannot leave. You have only just arrived, after all."
She smiled, but Goku wasn't really in any mood to smile. Did she think this was a joke? He was starting to get pretty angry.
"Don't you get it?! Everyone will die! I have to get back!"
"We apologize, but you cannot leave. Besides, the Tenebrae Estates are a lovely, rural town. You will love it here."
Flabbergasted, Goku just stood there for a few seconds with his mouth open. He wanted to get back and stop Cell, but at the same time, he couldn't feel Cell's energy level anymore. Was he already dead? Everyone else' energy levels were gone, too... he didn't... kill them, did he? Clenching a fist and beginning to flash with yellow aura, Goku's patience was really being tried now.
"I NEED TO GET BACK!"
"Lower your voice. We don't want to start a scene in the middle of town, do we? No, we don't. You will love it here."
And with that, she walked off, leaving Goku confused and frustrated in the middle of the sidewalk. He kept his eye on her and considered following her, but it was no use, she was already so well hidden amongst the crowd that he couldn't find her if he tried. Sighing, Goku looked around. So...
Now what?

So...
Now what?
