The Basics
Name: Toothless Audreki (the second is more like his "dragon name" then his last name but meh...)
Nickname/Other names: Devil, Nightfurygetdown!, Useless Reptile.
Gender: Male.
Age: 5 (ish)
Hometown: Berk, Barbaric Archipelago.
Canon: Um... sorta. It's Toothless from the movie but altered and placed within the canon world of the books but is still the movie dragon at his core? Hopefully that is okay (and makes sense)?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Outside and the In
Face Claim/PB: Imma use a more realistic CGI dragon as a play-by for a cartoon CGI dragon because I really did try but I couldn't bring myself to not make Toothless a dragon some how hahaha--*shot*
((Note: I would love to be able to have Toothless grow here steadily, both emotionally and physically!! Hence the second picture *points up* Hopefully that's okay too? Hahahaha... *lies down*))
Appearance: From afar, Toothless looks like an all black dragon, but in reality he's not. He has marking on his body that are a paler than the obsidian of his scales, and they look similar to those markings of a panther or a manta ray. His scales also gleam and reflect blue in the sunlight, similar to that of the glossy black feathers of birds. He has two mobile ear plates on his head that reflect his mood. He also has small nubs on his forehead that gradually get bigger as they traveled along his body and then end half way down his tail.
Toothless is built for speed and for stealth. His dark colored scales make him nearly invisible in dark places, and the lack of defensive and offensive spikes give him a streamline appearance. Toothless has tiny wings and hardly any fins at all because he's not old enough to fly yet, but when he grows up he'll be a monster of a dragon! He'll have a massive forty eight foot wingspan, ventral membranes on his tail which aid with the dexterity and agility in flight, a large fluke like tail for precise turns, will weigh over 1000 pounds, and will have a heavily muscled chest and neck which make him capable of vertical take off. He'd be a real terror on the Archipelago with his speed, explosive fire breath, and legendary accuracy.
But for now Toothless still has to get through his teething phase. Honestly, the only extraordinary thing about Toothless right now is how extraordinarily small he is.
Personality: Toothless is a playful, curious, and clever little dragon. He likes to observe and mimic behavior that he sees. Down to the basics, Toothless is a wild dragon and therefore he has instincts which often times he has trouble overcoming or ignoring. Sometimes these are beneficial, like sensing something is wrong or knowing which way to escape a forest fire, and then other times not so much.
Considering it is Hiccup who has to raise him, it is from Hiccup that Toothless has learned everything he knows. Which might have been too big a responsibility to the boy considering Toothless is mostly a selfish and spoiled brat who does what he wants when he wants too (yep, he even throws temper tantrums), and swims through the world on a sea of sarcasm. However, Hiccup has taught Toothless well too, like how to forgive, be patient, be tolerable, and be polite; but alas, that's probably asking too much of a baby dragon. Perhaps as he gets older more of that side may shine through.
As with most dragons, Toothless is a bit vain and demands respect. He also has a terrible tendency to steal shiny things and hoard them, and to hold grudges on people he doesn't like. And with being a baby, Toothless is also very needy and extremely co-dependent on the boy who was put in charge of taking care of him (which will also become less and less apparent as he grows up), which Toothless sometimes loves to use to his advantage simply because he loves to tease his best friend.
Then again, who wouldn't want to?
And boy oh boy are his friends important to him! Toothless is extremely loyal, and will not stand for a threat against the people he cares about! And no matter how small or weak he is, Toothless will do whatever he can to help and protect a friend of his (and when he gets older he will strike with all the rage and fury of lightening and death itself, so it would be wise not to get on his bad side... like ever.)
Right Up to that Key Moment
History: It was customary for the young children of Berk to go to Wild Dragon Cliff and steal their first dragon; like an initiation into the rise of adulthood of sorts. It was also a test to see what kind of man the boys would become, judging on what kind of baby dragons they stole from the cliffs. See, it was the beginning of the end of devastating winter, and all the nesting dragons were hibernating with their young. Gobber rounded up the other boys and put them under Hiccup's charge, since he was the son of Stoick The Vast, oh hear is name and tremble ugh ugh, and the hope and heir of the Hooligan tribe. Of course, none of his peers seemed to take kindly to this, nick naming him Hiccup the Useless, but that's a whole other story in and of it's self.
So up the boys scaled the cliffs, and down they snuck into the caves, warm from the body heat of a thousand sleeping dragons and smelling of rotten fish. It was supposed to be a smooth operation, with every boy finding their dragon silently and then escaping, but as usual somehow Hiccup messed it up (or at least took the blame for it). Suddenly all the dragons began to awake from the sound of a terrible sneeze that echoed within the caves. Scrambling to get out before they were torn to shreds by outraged and territorial dragon mothers, Hiccup scooped up the first dragon he could get his hands on before fleeing.
And he escaped just in time too! If he hadn't jumped off the cliff and hit the icy cold water when he did, he probably would have been dragon chow!
Once safe on Berk, all the boys gathered around and showed their dragons to Gobber. Most were healthy and strong specimens, worthy of being trained and rode into battle by Vikings; Deadly Nadders, Hideous Zipplebacks, Gronkles... It was expected that Hiccup would grab a Monstrous Nightmare, since that dragon was only supposed to be caught by a chief, believed that only a chief could handle such raw power. However, it was instead Snotlout, Hiccup's cousin, who caught such an incredible beast, determined to prove himself more worthy of chief than his lousy cousin. Again, that's another story.
Hiccup had failed again it seemed, for it was not a Monstrous Nightmare that he pulled out of his pouch, but an unknown dragon that had to be the smallest anyone had ever seen, and worst of all, a dragon with no teeth!
The little dragon had come a long way before ending up on Wild Dragon cliffs, from across the sea, farther than where the world drops, into skies that were dark and the ocean foggy. A land where humans were not so kind to their dragons, catching them and enslaving them, and treating them harshly. The little dragons father was a Night Fury, strong and capable, stubborn and willful. He started the whispers of a dragon rebellion against the Romans that were keeping such beautiful and wild creatures chained, and was the leader of the first counter attack. Of course, he had something to fight for, freedom not for himself, but for his mate and children.
The Romans fought back the dragons, far too powerful with their weapons, and the rebellion failed but still remained hot and wild within the hearts of those dragons. Knowing that he was doomed for his actions, the male Night Fury's last act of revenge was helping his mate to escape. And she did, but not without receiving significant injury in her attempt. She flew hard and fast for as long as her wings would carry her, until she found herself among wild dragons again on the other side of the world. They welcomed her, offered her a place to rest, but by then it was already too late. The wound was infected, her eggs (which she had carried in her mouth) had gotten too cold, and her heart was broken. It was all just too much for her.
However, against all the odds, and perhaps protected by his conjoined fate with that of a special boy named Hiccup, one egg did survive. Toothless' egg.
Toothless did not know of any dragon rebellion, did not know of the slavery that humans forced upon his winged brethren from across the sea, nor did he know that it was his own father that had been caged for eternity, within chains that were too tight and a cage that was too small, for the cause (of course, neither did Hiccup even though all were such vital factors in the dragon and the boys shared prophecy of freeing all dragons and saving all men). What he did know was that when he finally awoke from the hibernating sleep, he was in a warm basket with a warm and furry vest wrapped around him. And there was a boy staring down at him and trying to coax him out with a fish. And why wouldn't he? He was starving for one thing, and he had no reason to fear this human that he knew of for another.
And thus Hiccup started his dragon training, that would be his project for the next three months before he was to show off his skills and perfect control over his new dragon in front of the whole tribe. Then he could be welcomed as a man! Of course, he didn't count on getting a little dragon who was quite as spirited as his little Toothless. And it probably doesn't help that Toothless knows Hiccup can understand him and gives him all kinds of lip either. Getting approval from the tribe, and especially his own father, was going to be a lot harder than he thought.
Especially now that there was a Seadragonus Giganticus Maximus on the beach, also known as the Red Death, whose threatening to eat everyone and every dragon in sight!
Key Moment: The night before Hiccup goes down to try and talk with the Red Death and try and convince it to leave the Island of Berk alone.
A Roleplaying Shift
RP Sample: Silently Toothless padded along across the wooden floor, little tiny claws clicking, small tail weaving back and forth. His destination? Hiccup's desk.
It was a messy thing, papers all over the top of it which were scraps of inventions or drawings, the candle burned down to the bottom and resting in a messy collection of melted wax. In the center was Hiccup's notebook which he carried with him everywhere, but for what Toothless didn't really know. Sometimes he would look to his caretaker and see him scribbling away furiously in it, so Toothless did at least understand that it was important. On the wall behind the desk, and plastered all the way around Hiccup's room practically, were different hand-drawn pictures of dragons in various poses.
Well, most of them were pictures of him. And they were very well drawn pictures too if he might say so himself!
Chest puffing out in pride as he admired the artwork, Toothless set his sights now on Hiccup's chair. Toothless liked to take the time to look at Hiccup's desk when he was gone (mostly because the boy couldn't rush at him while yelling to get off and thus startle him). He was fascinated at what the boy could do with paper and a pen. And sometimes Hiccup would forget to close his notebook and Toothless could get a good look at what the boy had been working on before he fell asleep.
Spreading his tiny wings, the little dragon crouched, wiggled his haunches, and then leaped up towards the chair. He missed at first, back legs hanging off limply and his own body weight dragging him back down again. He landed with a clatter and a small chirp, glad that no one had been there to see him make a fool out of himself. Then he tried again, and this time with a flap of his wings he was successful. Rocking his weight on to his back paws, front ones tucked in towards his chest, he slowly and carefully started to stand, trying to peer over the edge of the desk and get a good look.
Toothless stretched out his paws to hit the wooden desk, accidentally hitting papers that were not so perfectly balanced. It dislodged and suddenly there were drawings and papers falling all around him, followed by even the candle stick and small jar of ink! "Avalanche!" Toothless, wide eyed and back arched like a cat, squeaked in horror, scrambling to get out of the way. He forgot that he was on the chair however, and suddenly his paws hit thin air.
There was a whoosh, the violent pitch and the sensation of being tugged and falling, and a flash of white. And then Toothless suddenly found himself colliding with dirt instead of hard wood. No papers fluttered around to the ground behind him, and there were no ink stains on his scales or on the floor. Slowly Toothless peeked open his green eyes and looked around, slowly getting to his paws again. "Uhhh... Toothless didn't remember Hiccup having a garden in his room..." the little dragon mumbled to himself, looking over the vast array of colorful flowers that were surrounding him. The smell in the air was sweet, and the soil underneath his tiny paws was soft and pliable.
A slight buzzing sound passed his head and Toothless whipped around to look at it, nostrils flaring and his pupils beginning to expand. It was a little bug, buzzing happily from flower to flower. His eyes narrowed into slits, expression sly, as he crouched to the ground and began to silently make his way across the ground, unceremoniously stepping on the plants that were in his way. The little bug landed, transparent wings shining in the sun, washing it's little face and head, all the while unaware of the great and mighty predator behind him. Toothless lunged and...
... missed. Terribly so. He tumbled over himself through the grass and flowers before coming to a complete stop with his chin in the dirt and his eyes clenched shut, a few stray flowers in between his ears and soil dirtying his scales. He sighed a little miserably too himself. "So much for great and mighty..."
Suddenly he went cross-eyed as he realized that he was looking at a shoe. A great and mighty shoe. He blinked and slowly lifted his head, following that shoe as it became and ankle and then a leg. Man! Whoever this stranger was, he sure was tall! Toothless continued up and up, until he realized he was looking at a kind smile. A kind smile and a big hand. Toothless' eyes widened and his ears flattened just as the shadow of the man's hand came down and scooped him right off the ground. Second time that day that there was a whoosh, a violent pitch and tug followed by a sensation of weightlessness.
"Hey! Put Toothless down you scallop-brain!" Toothless struggled but the hands that were holding him were firm, just enough to keep him from wrenching himself free. "Can mollusk-bucket not hear Toothless!?" The dragon continued, along with a few other select insults, which probably all just sounded like pathetic and squeaky sounding hisses and growls to the people (now there were three of them, all dressed in black and smiling pleasantly. It was kind of creeping the little dragon out) who could not speak dragonese. Eventually Toothless realized that his attempts at struggling were useless, and he settled down with his lip curled back in disgruntlement.
"Toothless is so gonna chew on your shoes when you let Toothless go..."
Tell us a Little About Yourself!: I've been roleplaying for about seven years, give or take? I guess the most important thing to know about me is that I'm really shy but I'm also really friendly! I relate better to animals than I do people. I'm a lover of horror, psychological thrillers, and almost any Dreamworks or Disney movie (and I am totally obsessed with Httyd if that wasn't apparent by now). Which means, yep, I totally sing like a Disney princess while I'm doing my chores hahaha! I have six chickens, three cats, one parrot, a dog, a hamster, and three fish. And I like pina coolattas and getting caught in the rain! XD (idek ne moar).
