Appearance: Earning her name, Pinkie has the brightest curly pink hair you'll ever see, which tends to look strangely natural for its odd coloring. When she was a pony, her coat was also pink, if only a lighter shade of it. She has huge blue eyes that always have a mischievous sparkle to them. Her mouth is also usually turned up into an innocent grin. As a human, she seems to have acquired a less colorful skin tone, as did her friends Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle. Also, she is still getting used to her height, which is fortunately less to get accustomed to than it could have been, at a mere 5'2". Now, since apparently clothes are a necessity, Pinkie tends to lean toward bright colored clothing and mismatched outfits, favoring skirts with layered shirts (stripes or polka dots are a must) and the colors blue, yellow, white and pink.
Personality: You're unlikely to ever meet anyone as exuberant and fun-loving as Pinkie! Her happy, go-lucky personality enables her to see the brightest in any situation, and she's likely to giggle in the face of certain doom. After all, she is the Element of Laughter for a reason. Pinkie is renowned for her ability to throw spectacular parties, which can lift even the lowest of spirits, no matter how many or how few ponies show up. Corresponding to and perhaps causing her hyperactive behavior, Pinkie loves baking and is very skilled at it. She often manages to defy physics with her antics, including pulling random objects out of nowhere, keeping up on hoof with the fastest flier in Equestria, and even breaking the fourth wall! Sometimes, she will say things that make absolutely no sense and are in no way relevant to the current topic, except perhaps to her. Pinkie has a variety of skills and talents apart from baking and party-throwing, such as her Pinkie Sense, where she can detect things that will happen in the immediate future, and her eidetic memory, which enables her to remember everyone (and their birthdays) in Ponyville.
Don't be fooled into thinking that she is foolish and harmless, though. When she believes she has been forgotten or ridiculed, Pinkie will slip into a depressed, angry state characterized by darker, grayer shades of her brilliant raspberry coat, as well as her mane and tail flattening. It is best to assure her that she is wanted and appreciated, lest she give in to a more destructive nature....

History: Pinkamena Diane Pie was born on a rock farm outside of Ponyville, living with her parents, Sue and Clyde, and her sisters, Inkie and Blinkie. There, she toiled long and hard as a filly, since her family believed in nothing if not hard work. One cannot say that this was enjoyable, though. Rock farming, however essential, was an extremely bleak and dull lifestyle.
That all changed when the rainboom happened.
Pinkie hadn't expected it. She had no reason to do anything except sigh and blow straight strands of her dull pink mane out of her face. Then, all of a sudden, a flash of light and color. It couldn't be described, it was so magnificent. Pinkie was blown backwards by the sheer force of the rainboom, almost falling over. When the impact was finally over, the filly's pink mane had been frizzed up by the wind until formerly straight locks had become curly for good. Not only did the rainboom change her physically, it permanently placed a piece of joy in her heart that just never seems to go away. That was when she threw her first party for her family. At first, she thought that they wouldn't like it, that she would be punished for making such a racket.
But when they smiled, Pinkie got her cutie mark: two blue balloons with a yellow one in between. Ever since, Pinkie has been throwing some of the best parties Equestria has ever seen. Of course, she needed a way to fund them. To accomplish this, the found a job at the Ponyville bakery, Sugarcube Corner, where the owners treated her like a daughter and even gave her a room of her own on the top floor.
She lived like this for a while, baking pastries and making acquaintances in Ponyville. But one day, a new pony moved into her town. Later, Pinkie would learn that her name was Twilight Sparkle. Immediately, she took a liking to the newcomer, and decided to throw a welcoming party for her at her new home. In addition, this was on the eve of the Summer Sun celebration, in which everypony stayed up until dawn to see Princess Celestia raise the sun.
Unfortunately, at that point, Nightmare Moon returned. Long story short, with the help of Pinkie and four other ponies, Rarity, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash and Applejack, Twilight Sparkle was able to harness the Elements of Harmony to revert Nightmare Moon to her original form, Princess Luna. This marked the beginning of Pinkie's days as the Element of Laughter. After that, the six new friends had tons of adventures, including two encounters involving an egotistical Draconequus and another with a crazy Changeling mare at Twilight's brother's wedding. Recently, however, things have been going unusually smoothly. Too smoothly.
Key Moment: Pinkie was planning the birthday party of her bosses' twins, Pumpkin and Pound Cake, and decided to go to the library and ask Twilight Sparkle for advice about gifts.

Pinkie remembered bouncing around her room above the bakery excitedly. Well, why wouldn't she be excited? Next week was the twins' birthday party!
"Oh, Gummy, it'll be my best party yet! I need streamers, and balloons, and CAKE! Oh, we'll need TONS of cake! But I just know it'll be absolutely PERFECT!"
The earth pony squealed and hopped right over her bored looking alligator.
"Wait... what will I get them as presents?" Pinkie wondered out loud, frowning. "Maybe a ball or something for Pound.... Oh! I bet Twilight will know! She knows EVERYTHING!"
That was when it happened. Intent on paying a visit to the library and asking her friend for advice, Pinkie darted out of her room-
-and found herself face down upon the ground.
"OOF!"
Pinkie felt a prickle of pain on her cheek. Definitely not the wooden floor of the bakery. Maybe gravel or something?
The earth pony tried to jump up, which resulted in what must have looked like an attempt to imitate a baby's crawl while planking.
"Huh. This isn't working."
"Miss?"
Pinkie looked up from her spot on the ground and furrowed her brow. "What are you? Are you a troll? Where are your hooves? And your ears? Why is your mane so short?"
The suit sighed and smiled painfully, recognizing the pattern of questions. "Do you know two young ladi-err, mares, named Twilight Sparkle and Rainbow Dash?"
"Well, of course, silly! They're my two of my bestest pony friends forever!" With a pause, she inquired, "Are they here? Twi's magic sometimes makes goofy things happen. I was just in my room, but then I was here, and Twilight can teleport now, which is super-duper cool, but it sometimes-"
"Would you like a hand?" The man interrupted.
"A... hand? Whazzat? Is it like a horn? 'Cause, I'm an earth pony, I don't really need a horn. I mean, if I really wanted one, I could chop off Rarity's or something, but that would be kind of mean, wouldn't it? Dashie told me that Black Market ponies take them sometimes and make necklaces, but everyone knows candy necklaces are the best!"
"A hand is- oh, never mind. You'll learn later. Come with me." The suit pulled Pinkie up to her feet, which was when she looked down.
"Oh my gosh! Where's my coat? And my hooves? And-" Pinkie ruffled her hair- "my EARS! I- I'm one of YOU!"
"We'll explain later, just follow me. And, miss..."
"Pie. Pinkie D. Pie!"
"Miss Pie, welcome to Tenebrae Estates."
