The Outside and the In
Face Claim/PB
Ezra Miller
Appearance: Charlie is of average height and build, somewhat slender. His face is rather angular and very expressive, with dark almond-shaped eyes and framed by a head of curly dark hair. His lithe frame is usually donned in a solid black, casual suit with his favorite top hat, but his taste in clothing changes often. Sometimes he enjoys bright colors and horrible patterns. But he never considers himself fully dressed without a winning smile.
Personality: Charlie is a fickle fellow. If you are looking for idle chit-chat or a straight answer about something, he is not the man for you. Aloof and eccentric, you either love him or hate him, and he doesn't frankly care which. he loves to speak in riddles and confuse them just to watch their reactions, leaving those who don't know him well very irritated. Though the few who are close to him may find his antics endearing, to most he is maddeningly frustrating. He doesn't always seem to make much sense, but he is really a very good listener, though it may not necessarily seem that way. He can be downright charming if he's in the mood, but he uses these things to his advantage. Often there is more method to his madness than he lets on.
This is not to say that he isn't a good guy, though one can never really be too sure with him. For one, you will almost never find him in a foul mood. He is endlessly resourceful and can make the best of most any situation. And though he rarely forms any meaningful connection with anyone, those select few he does genuinely care about have his fierce loyalty and devotion. Just try not get on his bad side. Though he will not directly say anything if you do, he is very cunning and manipulative, and will not forget that you upset him. He happens to grow bored rather easily, and that can be dangerous with him.

Right Up to that Key Moment
History:
The Cheshire Cat's existence is a mystery to most residents of Wonderland. Some believe even he himself doesn't know, or maybe he's as old as Wonderland itself. But the reality is that he was brought into existence in the early days of civilization in Wonderland (if one can call that place civilized). It happened long ago when a wizened old magician was called to entertain the court of the King and Queen of Diamonds, long before the Queen of Hearts' reign. Though the magician was powerful and wise, he had become somewhat senile in his old age. He meant to pull an enchanted rabbit out of his hat, but instead got an odd-looking, vanishing cat. The court was thrilled but, as cats are often wont to do in unfamiliar surroundings, Cheshire took off and took up residence in the Tulgey Wood.
The Cheshire cat spent his days in the wood, taking delight in bewildering passersby. He's traveled over Wonderland, from the neverending tea party of the mad hatter to the beautiful castle of the Queen of Hearts. He was beginning to grow bored with it all until Alice showed up. That was the greatest fun he had had in a long time. But soon after she left, things returned back to the way they had been. He has spent most of his time with the hatter and the hare, taking delight in ramblings and fun. Still people are discouraged from wandering the woods if they don't know where they are going.
Key Moment:
When Cheshire eventually began to grow bored again, just as the Queen of Hearts' reign was finally coming to an end, that is when he found himself suddenly sitting in an unfamiliar field, with little memory of his life in Wonderland. He has no idea who he was or where he came from. The only clues he has are the random, vivid flashback images of the strange woodland creatures, a wild tea party, a white rabbit in a tailcoat, and a beautiful castle. But far from being afraid, he is more curious than anything and eager to find out more about his newfound surroundings and about himself.

He only opened his eyes because the sun was shining so brightly through them he couldn’t keep them shut anymore. Suddenly, he shot straight up into a sitting position as his eyes flew open and he simply stared ahead in stunned silence. The grass was tall and dry around him. Just ahead, a thicket of evergreen trees formed a sort of barrier to the field he now found himself in. This place didn’t look like anything he had ever seen before. When he strained to think however, he realized that he honestly couldn’t remember any place he had been before.
He quickly glanced down at himself in confusion. Nothing seemed familiar. He donned a crisp, loose-fitting suit consisting of a tailored black jacket that flared at the hips, adorned with cameo buttons, and a pair of slim back slacks and slick ebony shoes. Next to him the grass was the most marvelous top hat he had ever seen, with a couple of playing cards stuck in the band. A wide grin quickly spread across his face as he lifted it up and placed on his head of dark, unruly hair. But the brightness of the sun was still disorienting him, when he suddenly felt a small lump in his chest pocket. Curiously, he reached inside and pulled out a pair of very old-fashioned, spectacle-like sunglasses and gingerly pushed them up his nose.
Suddenly a noise behind him caught his attention and he quickly sprang to his feet and looked around. A kindly-looking, middle-aged man in a more professional looking black suit was approaching him, with a genial smile on his face.
“Hello Charlie,” he said in a friendly manner, holding out his hand in greeting, “How are you feeling?” Cautiously, the young man grasped his hands and searched for the right words.
“Who am I?” was all he could manage to stutter, for though the man had addressed him by name, it didn’t sound familiar at all.
“Charles Cavendish of course,” the man replied, not seeming perturbed at all that he didn’t seem to recognize his name, “Come with me. My colleagues and I will take care of you and make sure you’re comfortable. All of your questions will be answered.”
Charlie said nothing, but only smile and nodded his head, following the man as he turned and began to walk in the direction from whence he had come a moment ago.
