He made his way down the hallway dressed in a freshly pressed brown suit, blue shirt, and maroon tie. Oh and don’t forget the glasses. Yes he was looking very teacherly today. Seeing his reflection in various windows and even a glass trophy case was odd. Each time he expected to see a skinny, big headed, bald blue alien. But each time its was still normal looking, brown haired, Bernard Megs.
Ah here it is. The next door turned out to be his destination. He walked in taking some time to look about the empty classroom. At the front of the room there was a wooden desk, a chalk board taking up the majority of the wall behind it. Instead of desks for the students there were several tables with chairs lined on one side. He noted the counter running along the far wall with several sinks and cupboards that no doubt contained supplies that would come in handy during lessons. Just what those lessons would be depended on the students. Staff members had advised that some may have come from places that lacked even the simplest of modern technologies or technology that was far different than this world.
They had provided a high back chair just as he asked. He took seat checking to make sure the back would conceal him from view, then did a couple of spins to make sure it swiveled well. Oh how he loved doing the chair reveal. Did not have an animal sidekick to sit in his lap but he could do the steepled fingers thing. That would work. Facing the desk again he leaned forward to slightly adjust the name plate, the name Bernard Megs neatly imprinted on it. It was a rather plan piece, the kind you would see on any teachers desk, no spikes. Spikes would be interesting but he was a good guy now after all.
He looked at the clock and jumped out of his chair nearly knocking it back into the wall. “Its almost time! Okay, okay. I can do this.” He took one last look around the room making sure everything was in order and jumped back into his chair turning it so that he would be hidden from view as the students entered. Hmm…what if someone was late? Ooh should he be the strict disciplinarian and dole out detentions or be the cool teach who didn’t care about bells? Had to admit this was rather exciting.
